That's the whole point with him, a parody I guess.

Why is it that most movies are supposedly based off of a largely popular thing...
...and the first time I ever hear of it is the movie in the first place?

Looks really good, maybe i'll go see it.

Because the movie makers know that if they make a movie about a popular thing people who know the thing will go see the movie.

I've never heard about Watchmen the movie or the comic since last year while watching the movies. It looks great, I can't wait to watch it. It's directed by the same guy that made 300 and Sin City, what can go wrong?

Watchmen's plot really fits in with this guy's film style. It's a pretty dark anti-hero story, where only one of the characters really has any "super-powers". If you guys get the chance, I would pick up a copy of the comic from the bookstore. It's a quick read, and pretty good. It will definitely make you rethink your views of superheros. The only thing that worries me is the rumors of the change to the ending
Comic Ending
In the original comic Adrian Veidt, aka Ozymandias, kills most of New York City using a genetically modified monster that he teleports to the city center. The monster is designed as a sort of biological bomb, when it dies, it releases a physic shockwave which is programmed to fill people's minds with images of sheer terror. Those who aren't killed from the shock of it go insane and start attacking anybody closeby. The nations of the world, previously on the brink of nuclear war, now unite to study and prepare against this new found threat, which was Veidt's reasoning for killing several million people. However, for this newfound peace to continue, the heroes who confronted Veidt must keep silent about what was really behind the mass murder. Rorschach, who detests lies, is true to his word of "no compromise", disagrees, and leaves to tell the world what happened. Dr. Manhattan, who agrees with keeping silent kills Rorschach in order, since that is the only way he'll ever keep quiet. The comic ends with a shot showing Rorschach's journal(which contains details of Veidt's plot) being delivered by mail to a tabloid newspaper.
I found that ending to be great. Some sources say the ending will stay the same, while others claim it has changed. I can only hope they left well enough alone.

Eh, am I one of the only people here who doesn't think this movie will work out?
I mean, it looks awesome and I'm going to see it, but it's based off a pretty long and detailed comic. How can they get all the important parts in while still having it make sense?
Most of the comic community is already pissed that they decided to make a movie based off Watchmen because it's supposed to be the comic that could never be made into a movie.

Also, 300 was a pretty bad movie in my opinion, sure the director was visionary, but the movie still sucked overall. How can he not f*** up Watchmen?

This better not become flamebit...
