He's a pain to use at first, but he can actually be fun and challenging to play as if you learn how to use some of his worst moves to your advantage.

Who mentioned Link? I liked Link in SSB64, and consider him to be awful in Brawl, he just can't move in the air.

The SSE paired the two up. Why pair those two up? Why not just pair Wario and Snake up?

It would have made more sense to pair Mario with Yoshi, but really, the SSE's plot is awful if you ask me. I like playing SSE, I just can't stand the story at most points.

I liked the story but not all the teams. Pokémon Trainer and Lucas? Kirby and Peach/Zelda? Really?

Ok, mini-rant time.
The SSE as a whole is fun to play for the most part, but I have plenty of problems with it aside from the teams.
1.) THE AREAS! Have you ever seen "The Forest", and "The Lake" specified as such in any other game? "Oh, The Lake is so iconic in Nintendo's history!" NO.
2.) THE ENEMIES. Oh hey, look, a generic green-and-purple blob. Oh hey, look, that same blob in every level of the game. Yes, there were some Goombas and Koopas, but what about the Zelda enemies? Maybe some enemies from Metroid?
3.) IT NEEDS MORE PLOT CHOICES! I'll say it here and now, I LOVED the ability to choose a turn in the plot when you fought Petey. SSE as a whole was too linear if you ask me, it just needs the ability to change the plot when you do certain things in levels.
4.) THE PLOT AS A WHOLE IS DULL, AND HAS ABOUT DIDDLY SQUAT TO DO WITH NINTENDO! Do I really need to explain this one? Oh sure, one of the members of the Blue-Man group turned evil, and started summoning generic blobs. I couldn't care less.
Alright, I did my best to put everything here into 4 main points, and I think I got the idea across..

Yeah, I would've enjoyed a more Nintendo-Based experience. Hopefully he'll (Sakurai) will do better in the next game.

In my game's story all the stages are based off series, not generic original stuff. The Jungle was the only area that made sense to it's characters (DK and Diddy)

Ha. Haha. ha.Fox: His location made sense due to the crash landing. Unless you always land in an area fitting to you. Pit: hurr Link: Lost Woods in a lot of LoZ games Yoshi: Yoshis are often in a green, grassy area. I'd type more but I can barely stand typing with this phone.

Yeah, I didn't really see the point in putting Heartless Primids in there. At least give us some Kirby enemies, SSE plays the same way anyhow.

SSE was bad but the only crit on this page that I've actually agreed with is that Mario shouldn't have been the only series to contribute enemies to the cast. Would've loved to have seen some Zelda Metroid etc baddies in there.

f*** I had a post earlier but I closed the window without posting I think.
Anyway I'm basically in the same boat as Tid. That was not a great list of criticisms of something that has a bunch of terrible stuff, especially the not enough choices one. There are distinct advantages to having a more linear story and the attitude that every game needs to be mass effect jr and have a bunch of endings or plot choices or whatever is getting really tiresome.
