These stages look really dull and lack proper perspective.

Most of them actually have pretty descent perspective. Some of the stuff on the first stage looks really bad. As in, sloppily done. :/

Then you don't know what decent perspective is.

Looks like someone can't take criticism.

The only one with bad perspective is the first one. The other ones are fine. Maybe YOU should learn some perspective.

Also, isn't that first stage for a game called a CAMEO?

They all are I believe. Either that or test stages. But yes, his first stage is also in the CAMEO! topic.

Try to study shading and detailing a bit more. This can easily be done by spriting objects (the object itself that you sprite doesnt matter, any object can be sprited for practise). Once you've got shading, lineart and the like down, then you should try to sprite stages again.

Also, if you truly wish to sprite stages, then I suggest practising Stage layout a bit.

Hes a really good stage spriter, actually. Also I suggest not complaining about people criticizing your work whether its productive or not, because if you do people wont want to give you their opinions.

Instead of pointing out what is proper, take his advice and put in on paper.

As for your stages, I suggest instead of making multiple - very bland stages. That you spend the time making just one stage.

No. It was criticism. Nicko can make better stuff than you cause he listens to what people have to say. Just cause a dev doesn't say it doesn't mean it's not right.

Nicko's one of the better spriters on this forum so I suggest you listen cause he's right on this.

I wouldn't worry so much about what is critique and what not, if I were you, I'd be more concerned what I would do with the critique itself.
