Just beat Sonic 2 the other day. Wing Fortress zone was harder than I remembered it.

I gave the Lost World demo a try on 3ds a few weeks ago and I was pleasantly surprised, I wound up replaying those two stages until I got S ranks on both.

Still, it's a waste of the big levels and good replay value imo

The smartphone ports of 1, 2, and CD all save your progress. Having played Sonic 2 on the Genesis before, I thought the saves were a huge improvement - some sections, the final boss of Sonic 2 in particular, practically rely on you memorizing the layout and enemy patterns through trial and error, and while replaying Chemical Plant Zone for the fiftieth time probably helps you get better at the game, it isn't fun.

at least sonic 06 was fun for how bad it was

Sonic 06 is sincerely one of my favorite games, but it has a lot of issues. The plot is god-awful and Sonic specifically acts a lot more wooden and boring than he did in every game leading up to it. Despite these and the myriad of gameplay issues, I enjoy the setting, the cinematic presentation (for the most part), the music, art style, and engine. I like that the characters stop on a dime and move akin to the adventure games. I like the level design for the most part, kingdom valley is one of my favorite sonic stages. I appreciate everything about Sonic 06, but it’s definitely a mess and there are tons of legitimate reasons why people dislike it, it’s not a mystery, lol.
Sonic Lost World is very bland and boring to me and it has a worse plot than 06. It also features a very lifeless, boring presentation where characters stand around making jokes instead of there being any cinematic value. This has been an issue for me since Colors, though.
I would like if Sonic Team made another game in the vein of Sonic 06 because I do really like the setting a lot but it’ll never happen because of the terrible legacy it has and will always have. thousands of people that have never played it know it as “the worst game of all time” and it’ll stay that way.
