i went to see this today and i loved it. amazing visuals. actually feels like a comic book movie instead of a movie based on a comic book. nice story too. honestly probably my favourite superhero movie ever

animation was amazing, casting n voice acting and everything was all tip top, loved the story. i cried. i’m so happy this movie exists, i hope it means a bright future for animated films in general

Finally got around to watching this tonight and I absolutely f*** loved it. The visuals and effects are so stylish and are probably my favorite from any Western animated film ever. Characters were awesome, the easter eggs (RIP Toby Maguire) were neat and the story was sweet; some stereotypical superhero movie cliches started setting in near the end but I mean it really couldn't go any other way
My only real gripe is that the animation at times seemed a little inconsistent. It was really choppy at the beginning (which itself isn't a bad thing at all) but then started getting ridiculously smooth near the end, and the transition felt a little weird for me. However it could be just my eyes getting used to how things flowed, so I'll confirm this for myself upon a rewatch Also though the jokes for the most part got a good chuckle or even a laugh out of me the whole backstory gag really ran its course after Peni Parker and gang showed up. However the appearances of the characters themselves are lovable enough that I'm willing to call it forgivable. I've never read the Spider-Verse comics before nor watched any trailers for this movie so I was shook when a cute anime girl had the audacity to show her face in my Marvel superhero movie lol Other than that, holy hell. Don't think I'd go so far as to call it my favorite superhero movie ever (probably Top 5 though) but regardless I'm eager to see what's to come in this new style! EDIT: Also that post-credits scene. Pure gold _________________

Definitely after. Popularity for the meme started to boom around 2016 iirc, though I can remember it from as far back as 2012 _________________
