You'd be surprised man, half the reason I'm shy around girls, is that they are scary when angry, I was I- -I that close to getting punched by a girl in my class.

The thing is I'm really, really good at making girls feel comfortable. I don't try to put them in situations where they would feel embarrassed or some s*** like that. I just always make them laugh. Also, I actually listen.

I don't even know how I got her angry, I asked her if she was jealous that my friend because he's an all A's student, and he always tops her by a whole mark in tests. It must have really bothered her.

So a grown man needs to call the police to take care of a 6-year old girl.
Wow.

Well by law, he can't do anything that'll leave a mark on her, since it would be a chargeable assault offence. He had no choice really.

He could've called her parents and have her expelled or transferred to another school. But the police?

No, she couldn't have. She was restrained. For pete's sake, if two or more cops can't keep a handcuffed six year old under control, than those are the most pathetic officers in existence. Judging from the police report, both parents weren't available, despite repeated attempts by the police to contact them. They were probably working, and if there's nobody else the principal knows of to contact, he has no choice but to call in assistance for the police. And really, expelled or transferred? You think that's something he can just do in a flash and immediately fix the solution? If you expel a 6 year old, what are you gonna do? Kick her out and make her sit alone on the steps of the school for the rest of the day? And transfers aren't something that you do with a simple phone call.

So if both parents aren't available the only thing he could do was call the police?
Oh well, things are a lot different here that's for sure.

Enforcicle, read up 2 posts. Her parents were not available. It's not the principal's job to sit around restraining a violent kid for hours until the school day finished, and if the girl were injure herself while he was doing so he could have been charged with assault. Assuming there wasn't a suitable dedicated and trained security team (which is common at grade schools, as far as I know), his choice to involve the police was pretty reasonable. The police didn't throw her in a cell. They took her to the station because they needed someplace for her to stay, since her parents weren't around to pick her up. I may be wrong about that, though; it's not very clear from the article. I can't think of any. Judging by the girl's actions, it seemed pretty clear that physical restraint was the only option. The question becomes one of whether the principle himself should have tried to restrain her. Calling the police to deal with a child sounds bad on a surface level, but it was probably his best choice. The parents should be angry at their kid, not the school who was forced to deal with her.
