Are you sure? Sm4sh Mario had light blue overalls, while Ssf2 Mario still has the dark blue overalls from Brawl, just a little less ugly.

One of the big aesthetic differences that you're not taking into account is the level of detail. Sm4sh took a much more general primary-color solid-patterning appearance, while Brawl kinda went overboard with necklaces and insignias and stuff. SSF2 is much more retro and so aligns more with Sm4sh or Melee than Brawl.

I was really just talking about colors, but SSF2's later sprites, like Peach, Mario, and Samus, have that insane level of detail, but pixelated. Somehow they are able to show all those intricacies with simple pixel arts.

-2 songs per stage. Could work like Sm4sh 3DS, where you can press a button for a certain song
-Sound Test
-Stock Icons
-Online Fixes
-Ability to create custom palette swaps
-The black line from Sm4sh

-New Stages:
Rhythm Thief stage: Eiffel Tower with "Rhythm Thief's Theme", "Battle Diabolique", or "Emporer Napoleon (this version:

)" as possible music choices
Luigi's Mansion stage with "Main Theme" and "Luigi's Mansion Medley" :mario:
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon stage: Top of Temporal Tower with "Dialga's Fight to The Finish!" and "Temporal Tower" :jigglypuff:
New Anime stage :goku: :naruto: :ichigo: :pikachu:
Fire Emblem stage: Arena Ferox with "Id (Purpose)" and "Battling Marth!" :marth:

What if there was a crowd cheering sound along with the results theme? It already sounds triumphant, but imagine if there was a cheering sound too.

Add more controls. There are 2 shield and jump button. Why not multiple C-stick buttons for example?
You don't have to copy the gamecube controller.

Better yet, implement controller setup like Dolphin where you can set key chords to anything, set as many keys as you want, etc.
