Inkheart. Film based on book by a german author who goes by the name of Cornelia Funke.

Main synopsis:Meggie's father has the gift to "read characters out of books"People find out this secret and a man wants to take evil characters out of books so that he can control the world. Kidnaps Meggie's father and the rest is obvious.If you really want to know, Meggie goes and saves dad. She too finds she has the power to read characters. She reads the man into the book, thus trapping him in.

Looks quite good. I've read the books and am planning to watch the movie for my birthday party.

You're wrong about the ending...

She turns his monster against him using her powers, and the monster kills him and she sends the monster back into the book. The villain guy dies.

Unless they're changing that in the movie, but I don't know...

Usually, movies based on something tend to differ on what happens in whatever it comes from.

I also need to read the books so I can see if that's the case, and I have nothing else to read besides Lovecraft.

im not seeing it for the same reason arel isnt seeing it, i hate that actor, but the book is good, i've read it.

Same reason why some people like Zac Efron... That Edward character is the only reason they all get so excited about it. That's the only compliment about the book you ever hear. Never good plot, or nice characters. It's always "lol edward iz so sexyyyyy <3 <3 <3"

It's extremely annoying.
