I think... It should be somewhat like Spam Section Access. Not a place to goof off, but you have to sign up, and prove yourself intelligent enough to be in the, maybe "Debaters Group"? Or something of the sort. But, a group sounds like a good idea to me.

That's not cool.
But if they don't have to convince a mod they're worthy, then it should be one-strike-you're-out.

Whim I know getting over being kicked out of the Spam Section is tough for you, but you're going to have to stop crying and accept that the 100th time you tell us that the system is biased is not going to convince us any more than the previous 99. We get that it's biased. The alternative is that everyone is allowed in, and based on the average quality of the thought-to-words-on-a-screen process that goes on at MG, (don't whinge about me being biased towards users with better grammar/spelling because no-one wants to have an argument with someone who can't type coherently) it certainly shouldn't be a permanently open section. Anyone who applies can get in, sure, as long as they can be kicked out again.
