The sprites are almost ready.
I'm posting here because I'm wanting to make a fakedex, and would like to know what you guys think about my first sketches:

Left to right:
Swanettele (Swan+Odette+Odele): (Water/Flying) Based on characters of Swan Lake play, suposed to be the Swanna's evolution.
"After evolve this pokemon flies to the castle lake closest and dance day and night. They say that it's hoping to be noticed by a prince".
Operahtom (Opera+Phantom): (Flying/Dark) Based on the Phantom of the Opera.
"In sleep it sings, in dreams it comes, and speaks the name of the victim. It sings once again with her, to form a strange duet, and its power over her grows stronger yet"
Mobship (Mob+Ship): (Fighrting/Water) Based on Mob Dick.
"Its box-shaped skull protects your brain from heavy impacts. There are reports that it is able to sink ships with a powerful blow of its head".
Champrachina (Corruption of Arachnocampa): (Dark/Bug) Based on a arachnocampa luminosa.
"They cling to the roof of the caves lookout for a easy prey. When they are in a group, its blue glow can illuminate the densest cave".
Farking (Fart+King): (Poison/Ground) Based on a capibara.
"The strong smell coming out of it's body is the result of the digestion of your food inside its nine stomachs. In the place where it makes his nest, there is around a radius of three uninhabited miles".

Leoyssure (Leo+Loyal+Treasure): (Steel) Based on a lion.
"The purple robe on his back symbolizes power. It never attacks, only defends itself to protect its territory".
Mortiger (Mortal+Tiger): (Fighting) Based on a tiger.
"It marks its territory by splashing their own blood in a roar. To protect it, he never thinks twice before attacking".
Norlirrer (Honor+Corrupted form of Liger): (Fighting/Steel) Based on a liger.
"It's not very common to see Norlirrer in a natural state, since their parents are real enemies. It prefers a safe defense, but never dispenses a powerful attack if is necessary to defend its territory".
Ictiowar (Ictiosaur+War): (Water/Rock) Based on a Ictiosaur.
"Able to cross the ocean in a week, he eventually generates chaos and disorder in the process".

That. is. AWESOME.

I started Fakedex, like almost every Deviant fan of Pokémon:



The region (Heyan / Peace in Japanese), is based in Brazil, cities will have the names of the months, and four villages will have the names of the seasons. The Starters are based on important historical facts. The grass starter (Kylospur) is based on the great world wars, the fire starter (Laroc), in the discovery of the fire, prehistory, the water one (Floggot) in the maritime expansion of the modern age. This will become more evident with the evolutions. Two Pokémon are based on clean and dirty contrast (Scentking and Farking respectively), designed as capybaras. The legendary trio will be based on Guarani pantheon.

Being an avid fakemon designer, I think I might be in a place to comment on the overall design choices here.

First the two capybaras simply do not look different enough to be different pokemon, but rather regional forums (see: shellos/burmy/etc). They also don't convey a dirty/clean theme to me. I can't really tell which is which, the one with darker (therefor dirtier looking) color, is the one with a bow-tie and tux. The one with the necklace has a belly button, but that's not really dirty looking IMHO.

Typically I'm not a fan of reused assets, and it holds true here as well. The water starter has the same flotation sacs as Buizel/Floatzel (but otherwise seems decent), and the fire one is just a red and black Snivy without arms/legs or any of the other decoration Snivy had. The biggest problem is the head shape on that one, a head change can make it go from a Snivy look-a-like to a unique and cool starter. Your grass one looks pretty cool, it may be just a little too cool for a stage 1 starter (with the spikes and serious expression) though, since they normally have cute-cool-amazing thing going for them.

Indeed, flotation sacs are used in my water starter, but, not like buizel. When it envolve, they fill even more turning it into a cocoon. And lattler, the cocoon explodes and it become a wing.
When the the fire starter envolve, it loses the majestic look of snivy family, and becomes more cruel.
My grass starter have a cool look, IMHO.
Anyway, I think that they are a bit complicated for pokémon, here they are:

Your grass starter's whole line is definitely really good, as is the second stage of your water stater (enough so to justify the first stage even), but water's stage 3 looks really dumb. It seems like a digimon because of it's overly humanoid shape, random addition of wings, and the fact it's bearing weapons (as apposed to the weapons just being part of the body). It also looks nothing like stage 1 & 2, except it is a shade of blue (which isn't actually the dominate color in the first two, so much as yellow is).

Your coral snake is just a coral snake, nothing about it says fire, no spikes of flames or even zigzags. I could see it easily being a poison-dark with those colors. Finishing the bone design might work for decoration, or going a bit Quetzalcoatl with it would be nice. It also isn't cruel or wicked looking, it's really just a snake. Plain is a word for it.
