Well this is offtopic but I just had the best ideas for Pokemon/Assist Trophies.

- Slippy Toad -
Slippy starts flying around the screen in an Arwing then ends up crashing it, which creates explosive damage.

- Ditto -
Since it was supposed to be in Melee I had the best idea for it. It changes into the person who summoned it (with derpy Ditto eyes) and battles in a specific pattern. Similar to the Robot Masters in Mega Man.

It's been Nintendo's stance that alternate costumes should not be separate characters, as it cheapens the uniqueness of the cast (what this says about clones remains to be seen). So odds are the closest thing you'll get to separate characters are the Links and Zeldas, if they get costumes representing different Links and Zeldas.
Which I'll say right here that I really really want. I'd prefer a straight, green tunic Young Link costume for Toon Link costume to any of Toon's other costumes over the years. Same deal for adult Link and Zelda. Even if the changes are minor, I'd prefer an Ocarina of Time look to Skyloft or Ordan Link, an Ocarina styled Shiek etc. (Though I DO want a Skyward Zelda most of all)
Many may disagree or just shrug at this, but I think it's important. Link and Zelda are the only full-on legacy characters in Smash, there have been LOTS of them, and I want as many to be represented as possible. NES Toon Link in Brawl was fantastic, and I want more of that.

If Mario gets an alt, I think it should be his Doctor's garb.

If Pit gets one, I would lean more on the idea of an alt that resembles the classic Pit, or the trophy of him in Melee.

I think we've been over the Daisy/Peach alt argument before. Daisy is indeed a different character, and hopefully she stays distinguished enough to keep her own character, because at this rate Rosalina is gonna be Mario's bottom b****.

Would anyone have a problem with Captain Falcon having a Mach Rider-esque recolor/costume?

I don't think it'd be bad, but it would staunch whatever the Rider can do on his own, like be an assist trophy or stage cameo/hazard.
