Honestly, in a game with Cloud Strife, Solid Snake, Piranha Plant, and now Joker from Persona 5 as playable characters, I think it's safe to say now (if it wasn't before) that all bets are off when it comes to playable fighters.

As for me I personally think Sora's like 95% guaranteed; it'd be a crime to not include him at this point. If Sega can get multiple reps then so can Square Enix

Also curious as to what Joker's home stage will be. Mementos, I assume, or maybe Kamoshida's Palace

Sora is tricky because he (and every other KH original character) are owned by Disney, not SE. You'd be more likely to see a Dragon Quest character or 2B or someone before him.

In all seriousness, known leaker Vergeben has heard that there will be a Squeenix rep as DLC. However, seeing as Squeenix doesn't own Sora, I doubt Sora's the Squeenix rep.

I believe that since Nintendo doesn't have a history of planning DLC out before the game even happens, that this might be a unique situation where they have to make these characters paid DLC because that way the IP owners will get a large cut of the DLC prices.

My unironic predictions are Steve, Banjo & Kazooie, Slime (from dragon quest), and Rayman.

He also said that it would be the first DLC they announced and it would be at the game awards. He knew a lot about the base game but he is doing pretty poorly on the DLC so far. Joker was not mentioned on any of his "here are the characters I've been hearing" lists.


I take what Reggie said to mean all the dlc will be third-parties (unless nintendo has a 1st-party they've been setting on no one's noticed) and that spirits count as repping a series. I'm excited and also kinda sad. I thought this was Rayman's Smash. But hey, maybe it's Spyro's Smash instead and that's okay. I got Ridley and Simon in base game so I already got my number 1 newcomers for both 1st and 3rd parties, and Snake and Ice Climbers returned, so no matter what I can't complain.

i really hope he means series that don't have a playable character and not just series that aren't in smash at all
