Have any of you ever wondered the meaning of the Smash Bros. symbol that has been around since the very first game in the series? The fellas at Source Gaming published on March this year some previously untranslated notes made by Sakurai during the early days of the original Smash Bros.. As expected, the asymmetrical cross represents the crossover between the Nintendo characters that have being brought together to fight while the four sections are meant to represent the four-players battle, the quintessential aspect of the series. He commented about why some sections are thicker than other but, apparently, Mr. Sakurai forgot about it.
