I would like that too, but you already know when it's activated... it happens when that warning music starts. But, if you still don't know when it happens, give that Pokemon (insert berry here), then when it's HP is low and that Pokemon uses that berry, you'll know.

the most interesting part about the scans is looking at the map and comparing it to the b/w map. The entralink area (that center pokéball island thing) looks completely different, and there's now a path through that desert to the south.

Well, in Black/White, it says on the map that they were working on a path along that route until a sandstorm came along.
