I dunno, I don't really dislike any of them. Gun to my head though I might say the Olympus Colosseum ones are kinda unappealing visually s*** idk man. Nier was able to catch me off guard better just by virtue of being the first one, and I think I prefer its music... but now that I think about it, I'm more into the world and characters of Automata, on top of its clearly superior gameplay, and it DEFINITELY still managed to surprise me in a few places. I might say Automata edges out by a tiny margin, but that might just be because it's been several years since I played Nier. Both are excellent games regardless Of course. uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh milkbone It's not especially interesting. Considering I made it in high school, I'm reasonably impressed with a few aspects of it (namely that it works at all, but there are some nice polished elements to it). I've never been much of an artist but I'm really satisfied with a lot of the sprites I made for it. Trollbean's sprites especially I'd say are among my best work. He's kind of a stupid character but honestly he's really grown on me over the years & I'd kinda like to let him star in a decent game one day. Despite its weirdness it also has a bit of cute humor to it that I still appreciate on some level On the other hand, it's pretty inconsistent tonally, the physics to it are a bit sloppy and the level design might as well have been randomly generated for how much thought was put into it. The music is absolute a**, but that only happened because I was too afraid to tell the composer what I thought about it (don't hire your friends) Still, it was a bit of a passion project & for what it's worth I am proud of it. I've learned a lot from it and I've learned a lot since it was made. I'd love to make some more games but idk where to start. No ideas I guess

What concept/gameplay mechanic/improvement would make a game from a genre that you don't really care about (or actively dislike) appealing to you?

Conversely: You can remove a single mechanic from a game to improve it. Which game and which mechanic do you choose?

I think about this one a lot and the problem is that there aren't many genres I dislike as a whole I don't like MMOs because they're grindy but they literally have to be long as f*** to work or the playerbase will dissolve. You can't have people playing for ten hours and then quitting I don't like fighting games for many reasons but none of the games that have attempted to circumvent my issues with them have satisfied me anyway I feel like RTS and mobas and such are just fundamentally unappealing to me lol And I guess that's pretty much it? I guess the only decent answer might be "make more Smash Bros. knockoffs". I definitely don't feel confident designing a competitive game though This question is really really hard I guess I could say I like Pokemon in spite of its battle system rather than because of it. Pokemon is one of the only turn-based battle systems I tolerate (barring action-based ones like Mario RPG or Undertale). I deal with the lame a** combat because I like everything else about those games so much A real-time combat system in a game like that would also appeal pretty directly to something else I love in games - having a ton of unique playable characters That's not a bad idea. I'm gonna put a pin in that and think about this question a little more

That'd be f*** awesome actually, KH2 has some wild a** combat
The obvious problem is that I'm not sure how you could make it work for like 800 characters lmao

If you could have an entry in any series with KH2's combat, which series would it be?

Please don't call pokemon's battle system lame it's an insult to all the cool strategies I spent time coming up with :<
Have you ever done any kind of challenge run of a game? If not, are there any you think would be interesting to try?

Honestly any action game would feel good as f*** with the mechanics of KH2 Games like Bayo or DMC are praised specifically for the depth of their combat but I wouldn't mind playing one with some flashy Drive-esque s*** instead lol I'm sorry for hurting your feelings :< I do appreciate the depth to its system but turn based stuff is just not for me lol I've attempted RB2's Bladder of Steel, if that counts (every song in the game, no pausing or failing). Lost near the end though, fingers were cramped after 6 hours With the advent of Clone Hero, some people have taken to speedrunning Guitar Hero setlists, with the rule being that you can speed each song up as fast as you like, but you have to still be able to pass it. I think that might be neat to try I like some of the restrictions of nuzlocke runs too but I feel like they're super grindy even if nothing goes wrong & grinding sucks a** imo I played it briefly for a free weekend. I could see myself playing it more if I had a PC that could run it decently well, or if PS4 gets KB&M support. Junkrat was my fav. I like dickhead characters
