Who the f#%$& goes "oh, a mode where it's going to be almost impossible to actually lose? that appeals to me!"?

And if those people actually do exist then they should f#%$& off and watch someone play the game on YouTube or something, since they don't care about the actual "playing" part of the game

I personally think it's kinda dumb. But it might be useful if Galeforce returns.

I don't understand that statement. How can anything be useful to a game balanced for babies to play? At this point just go suicide every unit to beat the level it doesn't matter, they'll just respawn next turn.

lmao the "strats"

leave your lord behind, have everyone else fight for you

your lord won't die because nobody will be nearby him (or her if you want two left feet).

the only risk you have involved now are other lose conditions, like being invaded or something.

like, casual mode made it less critical to put some thought into your moves, but it didn't make it pointless. i say "thought" since casual mode could be applied to any FE game and they could still require strategy

the only strategy Awakening needs is this:

abuse Pair Up

there you go, now the only "difficult" part of the game is the RNG on higher difficulties

at least they confirmed the enemies can use the pair up mechanic in If iirc

well yeah but i tried to apply casual mode to everything since i know Awakening in itself is a braindead game

if there were casual mode in, say, radiant dawn, the game would still be moderately challenging, just less brutal. but if phoenix mode were in radiant dawn, well, radiant dawn is now an easy game.

a game actually designed around throwing infinitely respawning troops at your enemies until you can win sounds like it would be a neat concept, actually

and because it sounds neat, it probably already exists

http://mynintendonews.com/2015/05/19/fire-emblem-if-mixes-up-their-weapon-triangle-system/

Magic is nerfed
Pair-up is nerfed
Enemy strats are buffed
Bows are not neutral
strong weapons are nerfed
We had Batman in Awakening now the Joker is here (really I.S. are you trolling us)
New classes (Woo)

GameXplain changed my view of Phoenix mode. We can just use it to get those support conversation easier without all the shenanigans. Like, you finish the game and wants to get the SCs and take it cool, just hope in Phoenix mode.
(I'm trying to convince myself)

i actually like that a lot, having the other weapon types in the triangle isn't something I ever really specifically wanted but change isn't a bad thing. not sure what classifies as a hidden weapon though??

and i like the balancing of the stronger weapon classes as a replacement to the durability systems from games until now. more unique to give each class a defining set of pros/cons rather than just 'stronger = less uses'. i wonder if all the weapon types will have the same pros/cons for bronze -> silver or if that list was for swords specifically?
