Since Super Smash Bros Ultimate just released the Adventure Story mode trailer, did McleodGaming originally going to make a story mode for SSF2 also.
What was the original concept, and why did that never happen.

I dunno much about the details but it was called the Flash of Shadows (rather corny thinking back on it) and the main antagonist was some human dude named Umbra or something. But that's all in the past, I don't think we're getting a story mode for SSF2 anymore. Which is a shame since Story Mode was one of the best parts of Brawl and most likely will be for Ultimate.

It got scrapped, don't know why though. Story mode would be cool, but I don't think we're going to get one anytime soon.

Why, I mean it could happen, but it would take a high level of development and animating.

I asked people on YouTube about it, and they said that the original planned was a pre-made cutscene for Goku and Vegeta, but it was scrapped down the line for unknown reasons, but it was speculated that the reason for it to be cancelled was due to sprite animating.
Also, that pre-made cutscene would have been Vegeta being playable, as well as Renji and Sasuke, but they were also scrapped, and they were just making cameos or assist trophy, Renji and Rukia were made an assist trophy, and Vegeta & Sasuke were put as cameos in Hidden Leaf Village Stage and Planet Namak stage.

It's annoying to the devs, but it's still related to SSF2 and contributes to the discussion of the game. He's not doing anything wrong. Yet.

It's not called the Ultimate Light though. Whereas Flash of Shadows has Flash in the title.

Was it a story mode or was it before the first Super Smash Flash 1.

It was planned in the very early stages of SSF2 but cancelled later on, most likely cause it was too much work and SSB4 didn't have a story.

to be quite honest, if the devs were going to include something like this, it'd probably be something like melee's or ssf1's adventure mode

iirc ssf2 was planned to have 2 adventure modes
a simplistic-style adventure mode a la melee's adventure mode and a more story-based adventure mode a la brawl's subspace emissary and ultimate's world of light (to a lesser extent)
