Sera Looked to Tyr, to Qalim, and to the stranger, but she stared in his eyes for the longest time. It was as if his cold features reflected the cold heart within the surface people. Why they butchered with little thought about what they were doing besides the fact that it was for their own gain. She did not like the man, but in order to save the surface people, she must make them aware of the magnitude of their situation.

"I am willing to tell him of the news I possess as long as he explains his motives and his loyalties." she answered, still staring into his eyes.

Tyr rubbed his face and scratched his neck. Growth was starting to appear, and it was getting late in the day. At any rate, he knew they might be up for the night on this topic.

As their eyes met the stranger felt an odd connection to the girl, but his conscience mind quickly wiped away the thought.

"I can agree to your terms, the question is, can they?"

Elednor was getting tired of waiting on the now patched up hole. He needed to get in there but he couldn't. He sighed out of his own anger loud enough that they might hear inside. "Let's hope they pass it as the wind" he hoped. What he did not know is that a part of his wing was hanging inside. He got his arm blades ready for battle and sat there.

"What he does is no business of mine, but as long as he is within my awareness, his every action shall be recorded."

Qalim was aware of the dangers of treachery, which was why he work alone for the most part. This one was a foreigner though, as evidenced by his strange attire and his even stranger look weapon. He had never had experience in protecting anyone save himself and those who knew how to get by in the streets. This may prove to be a challenge.

The stranger's eyes ran across the room before he began to speak.

"I suppose the best place to start is my name." His arms crossed and slowly his mouth opened

"Lear" He paused.

"and I have been given the task of finding this young lady here and escorting her back to my home land in the east."

Tyr stiffened up immediately at the words. While he was a stranger to everyone here as well, just letting the man take Sera with him bothered him. It was a feeling of entitlement, in that he felt because she had come from God that she was there to save the yellow eyes, not a foreigner who did not even possess the trait and the history. She was not there for him, she was there for the yellow eyes, God's people. They were chosen and meant to return to the land they once were granted in the distant past, as the stories proclaimed. Even Qalim must have thought the same, especially because he had the stories recorded.

Sera stumbled once she heard what the man revealed. She did not feel like she could completely trust the man at all. His presence bothered her from the beginning, and it still did at the moment.

"I am sorry, but I don't feel comfortable around you like I am with these two. It's nothing personal, I barely know them as well, but we share a sort of... bond... it's ethereal... sort of. That same thing is not present with you. I want to trust you, because I feel you might be a good person, but as of now I must accept the kindness of my own, so to speak."

Lear shook his head.

"If you feel comfortable with only them, I see no problem in allowing them to come." Lear once again panned across the room, he took special notice to the physical reactions of those around him.

So he wished to take her far to the east? He wondered to what purpose. This man held not golden eyes yet he seemed sure of whom he sought. It made Qalim slightly uncomfortable but it did not show. Perhaps it was some sort feeling akin to finding a kindred spirit, and then having it taken away. Tyr had stiffened up whilst Seras and Lear conversed.

"Qalim," he introduced himself to Lear, "I am sure you have your reasons, but I am curious as to how much farther east than the Filistine desert are you going to take her? We may also be joined by others along the way."

Qalim's objective right now was to reunite the Messenger with his lineage back in the Filistine desert. This was the find of a lifetime.

"Ok I am sick of waiting"Elednor yelled. He broke the wall once again and fell into the room. "Don't ignore me for I have something to show you" he said to Tyr and all the others. He took off the color contacts he wore and showed them his hidden trait, yellow eyes just like Tyr.

Lear turned swiftly as his right hand rose to his chin.

"The once non-claimed Filistine territories are under the control of my Kingdom." He muttered his eyes shifting.

"The desert itself isn't to far away from the Capital, but it is technically south east of that region.." Lear stopped

"Are you interested in the ruins or the tribes?..." Once again cut off by a 'visitor' Lear stopped to watch the obnoxious gentlemen break through the closed ceiling.

Tyr staggered back as the stranger burst through the wall, but ignored him otherwise. He was nothing more than a pest in this important situation. He immediately turned to Lear to continue the conversation.

"I am Tyr of the mountains to the west that adjoin the sea," he began. "I would be honored to journey with you to your kingdom."

He was angry at Qalim over his implications that they would only meet those to the east. Surely his enclave in the mountains was only 1/8th of the journey to the desert. However, as angry as he was, he had to give in. He could send a message to them about the incident. He knew not how many other remnant enclaves there were left in the world, but surely they deserve to know as well.

With the answers from Qalim and Tyr, Sera faced Lear.
"I believe this means we are going soon? I hope the journey proceeds at a swift and steady pace."

"I see" stated Aranida, once again skimming through the report she held in her hand. Secretly she was pleased that the capital had asked for them to protect the yellow eyes instead of aiding in their extermination. As of late, Aranida felt as though everyone and everywhere had lost their morals. After the disappearance of magic, the crime rate and corruption of high officials seemed to exponentially increase each month. She wouldn't have been surprised if any of the counselors within the capital itself had succumbed to the corruption that seemed to lurk about everywhere. However she was glad in this instance she was wrong, the government wanted to promote peace, proving that perhaps the current situation of the world wasn't as dire as she had originally come to believe.

She watched as another servant approached and whispered something to Dhejuti. Aranida had not anticipated that they would be so quickly brought into the politics concerning the yellow eyes, and here they were just about to go meet one in the main hallway.

"Very well," she replied straightening out her jacket and patting her pants, she glanced into a mirror to make sure she did not look unseemly. As the mistress of the house she had to ensure she always looked her best, especially to her guests, she represented her entire household. While walking to the main hall she stopped one of the passing servants;

"Get my pistols, and bring a mix selection of labeled bullets" she instructed the servant who quickly bowed and scurried away in the opposite direction. It wasn't that she didn't trust the yellow eye person they were to be meeting, she just felt that it was good to be prepared. She was sure that trouble probably followed the yellow eye, whether they liked it or not, and as such it would be necessary to have the adequate defense.

"Shall we enter?" Aranida asked Dhejuti, her trusted friend and mentor, while they waited at the door to the hallway.

Lear re-focused on Sera after a few moments of silence.

"Yes, we can begin our travels in the morning." Lear glanced at the window and noticed the moon was not yet high.

"That should give all of us plenty of time to prep." He paused again his eyes scanning over the intruder once more.

"Just meet at the Eastern entrance of the city at day break, I would suggest that you bring personal belongings, leave food and water to me. Any questions?"

Elednor hated being ignored by these people but kept his patience. He turned to Sera and pleaded to her"please let me come along with you on your journey. I have nothing to return to but a life of nothing". Hoping she will let him come along he sat in a corner and waited for a response. "If she says no, I will return to Aranida and ask to be a guard" Elednor considered this thought and chose it to be so.

Tyr shook his head at Lear's question.

"Well, I'll see you all tomorrow," He said as he began to exit the room. "Qalim, Sera will stay with you. I don't live in the best section of the Black Market, and the space I rent hardly fits the needs of the messenger."
______________

Dhejuti opened the doors to the hallway, revealing a grand entryway decorated with various fine trinkets and furniture. At the far end stood a young woman, the first thing noticeable other than her eyes was her distinct clothing. As Dhejuti explained earlier, the remnants of the north were distinct in their dress, often a simple white robe covering their bodies. This woman wore the very same, and under the code of God, she wore it so that her breasts were exposed, a symbol of respect to God for granting them humble vessels to house their spirits. Women of the north took their dress seriously; many would kill themselves before they would hide their body from the world.

Other than the shocking display, she wore no shoes, sandals or boots, but went barefoot. The only ornaments were bangles at her ankles and wrists. Her hair was neatly tied in a low ponytail and around her neck she wore a token carving of the Face of God, a good luck charm in the north, blessed for a safe journey. In her right hand was a longbow, another blessed item that ensured good luck on a journey. In any case it looked much older than any modern weaponry or blades of any make.

"You are who I was told to speak to, yes?" she asked, eying her clothing with a critical expression.

Her voice carried the distinct sound of a northern accent. It was thick, almost as rustic as that of a pastoral accent where words carry a heavier tone based on how many vowels it contained. Vowels often had a strange sound in northern accents, many evoking textures moreso than sounds. The sound of vowels also varied, but all were variations of a basic guttural texture depending on the region's linguistic history.

The linguistic tree of the world carried various flavors.

Western and Central dialect (the region the characters are in) are the same, both being thinner than the other areas in terms of the thickness of the accent. Diction was the most varied in these areas because of the huge differences between the rich and poor.

Eastern dialect was much thicker around the desert regions, but near the Eastern sea border it thinned out, sitting somewhere inbetween the North and the West/Central sounds.

The Northern dialect was the most rural, in some areas it was so thick the people were often labeled as hicks. The thinner the accent, the higher up in society one was.

The Southern dialect was different in that they spoke a completely different version of the continental language. This most likely due to the South having the largest, yet scattered population of remnants, who fused the old language with the new one that swept the continent. This was the thinnest, there was practically no texture to their accent, it was cold and almost inhuman. Perhaps this was because the Southern remnants retained even more of their culture than the Northern ones and did not fuse it with various tribal and pastoral beliefs has the North did. Because there was less assimilation, there was less similarities between the languages.
