Hey, my old laptop is having screen problems, now, the PC is pretty beat-up, and my family is insisting on getting a new laptop instead of buying a replacement screen, now, with this could I get my hard drive and put it in a new laptop?

If it's any help my old laptop has windows 7, so yeah compatability wouldn't be a problem in that aspect.

You could transfer the files yeah, but not physically put your hard drive in there unless it is specifically designed for that laptop model.

So... I could go to some guy and be like, "Hey, here is a hard drive, now take those files and put 'em on this laptop." And it would work?

You can probably just get some sort of an adapter thing to make it an external harddrive
