All things considered, I decided it would be interesting to open this topic to discussion- Does anyone have anything, a movie series, a series of books, video games etc. That they personally enjoy, but they feel really gets ruined by the fandom?

Personally, I really hate a large hunk of the Kingdom Hearts fandom. There is just far too much shipping existent in what are supposed to be fairly innocent games, far too many people have chips on their shoulders regarding Kairi for reasons I can't for the life of me understand, and I can't stand the people who are so feverish in their hate of the Disney based segmants when they are such a substantial part of the experience. Ugh, it just drives me nuts.

Alright forum, your turn. What can't you stand in regards to fandoms in series that you personally enjoy? What people you, at least on some level agree with, really can help spoil the experience?

homestuck is a decent comic ruined by an awful fanbase

but yes all fandoms are awful

Yeah, all fandoms are awful, but the worst offender of something I like would be Sonic the Hedgehog... I'd try and explain all the reasons, but the list is so huge, it's no use.

Just liking the KH series has already made people close-to-hate me. The fanbase is too focused on shipping, yes, but it's mostly Roxas. Ugh.

My first thought was "Kingdom Hearts"

My second thought was "Really all of them"

I kinda want to say Pendulum, but I'm just not sure yet. I like some of their music, but I'd say a majority of the fanbase is in it for the HURR SICK DROPZ s***. Dunno yet.

I respect every fandom, sure they may look like idiots but they are enjoying what they enjoy, and that is good enough for me.

I mean, not like they are actually doing any harm to me, or anyone for that matter.

Fandoms in general, are the pits. There's a reason why the word "fan" finds its origin with the word "fanatic". Having said that, the Final Fantasy fandom is a rather obnoxious one, because they're constantly at eachother's throats over which game is 'the best'. "Kefka is a clown!" "Sephiroth is a momma's boy!" "Kuja's gay!" etc etc...

And then there's MLP fandom... Granted, I think the show is a piece of junk, but I'm still saying that's the fandom I have the most hate for... Them and the Twilight fandom.

And why exactly do you hate those two fandoms in particular?
