Yeah, they weren't overreacting for the SONIC Melee prank, they overreacted for Toad! (And either way it's still a rumor, you can't really overreact; you either believe it, or you don't) Who do you think might get in for the December Update?

It surprised me seeing Toon Link confirmed after the Spirit Tracks stage already had what I thought was Toon Link, so at this point I wouldn't rule out Toad completely. Just as there are multiple Links and multiple yoshis, everyone keeps forgetting that there is also more than one toad. Sure you could argue that he would have been shown for that group picture to commemorate Super Mario 3D Land's release in Japan, but that doesn't mean he can't hold Toad off for another occasion. Sakurai is full of surprises

you also can't forget that the character model of Toon Link is dramatically different from the model of the one in the background the only thing they have in common is the face and hair, but everything else is different PLUS the model of the background toon link is jagged like a DS game

I suppose if a Toad actually is on the roster, they're probably going to hold it off until the game is released then. I'm really doubting a playable one at this point though, so I think if a new Mario character was to happen. It'd probably be Bowser Junior.
