Guys. Sad news. You all know of our little feline friend Big the Cat, correct? Well.....His retirement was made official today. Big the Cat, as confirmed by SEGA Brand Manager Ken Balough, will not be in any Sonic games in the foreseeable future....This is just terrible ;~;

he had really stupid gameplay for a sonic game but i still loved him he will be missed T_T

He was a morbidly obese cat who fished all day and his best friend was a frog and he spoke with an annoying stoic tone that made him sound like an idiot. Big was not awesome.

most aren't going to like him because to the big's story was somewhat a challenge unlike most of the rest of the game
sonic adventure besides big's was not difficult in any way

Big the Cat was like in about 3 games (and 1-3 game cameos).

So its right to take out a sonic character who fishes for a pet named froggy (had ZERO recognition because he was never touched upon after sonic all stars racing) out of the current sonic cast but its not right to take out a group of generic c*** feathered bandits (Jet, Storm, and Wave) and the hedgehog with the lowest credibility from alot of sonic fans for being/acting gay (Silver) out of the sonic cast?

Yea... Sonic's future is pretty messed up..

His announcement was just the first. During an interview, they were talking about Big and his "retirement" was made official. He still has a possibility of appearing in non Sonic Team games but Takashi Iizuka said he wont be using Big fir any new games. Plus, Big really cannot be worked into fast paced gameplay at all. Characters like the Rogues and Silver are atleast fast characters. However due to the fact that the Riders series have never gotten much commercial success leads me to believe that the Rogues have been cut too.

Silver, while hated by tons of people, has tons of fans too. Thats just because he falls in "overpowered hedgehog character" category like Shadow and thus is popular by default. This fanbase...

You've got to be kidding me. Big is easily one of my top three favorite Sega characters.

This is something short of an outrage. Why bother taking the time deconfirming a character that nobody expected to appear anyway? It's not like they ever 'retired' Fang, Bean or Polar, but we all know that they won't be returning. Dat logic. It's flamebaiting.

Big was the smartest Sonic character EVER.

He had a lot of appeal in that he knew of nothing but friendship. He was a really cute and smart character design.
