I mean, we can see it anyway in the profile, so why not just make it one click easier. Nothing hurts the forum because we HAVE IT ANYWAY in the profile. If you don't want people to know your gender, mark N/A. There is a reason why it is there.
As for special treatment, SEXISM, GTFO. Easy to punish.

Also, another thing. I am disappointed that there are only options for Male and Female (and none). You show an incredible lack of tolerance for the transsexual and hermaphrodite community.

They could just change the field name to choose between, "pokey" or "not pokey". That would solve a lot of problems.
