The four levels of play is considered to be your skill level at the game. Let us begin.
Level 1: The Scrub You have just discovered SSF2. You have no idea what it is, and what tricks you can pull out with any characters. You're a total noob and everything you do gets you punished. You use the default controls that the game gives you. You run into everything, defense is not present, you dont even understand what an edge guard is and you SD on occasion. Basically in the proper term of Level 1: You suck. BADLY. Level 2: The Learner You are now more experienced and have a current neutral. Though you are not yet there. You understand the game enough to have a main. You understand most terms that the other players talk about. You win a few games here and there. You have an edgegame, but nothing special. Getting offstage kills is a problem, due to fear of SD's. You continue to switch mains occasionally. You tend to roll alot, and rushdown too much. Level 3: The Expirienced You are now labeled as a threat. You can kill with ease, taking stocks off of top players. Your edgegame has increased as well as your neutral. Your main is now permanent. You start to get reads and punishes. Newer players have a hard time against you. (Its not just a bunch of whiffs and SDs) You've gotten your first 4 stock on a fairly decent player. You rarely lose a game to anyone of low level. Level 4: The Pro (Not many reach here in under a year) You are finally a pro. You read rolls and attacks MILES before they happen, and punish them without a second thought. You've beaten many good players, and you can seriously take them on. Lower leveled players refuse to play you when challenged. Edgegame is godlike, gimping the simplest of attempts to return to the stage. You get 4 stocks as if it's just child's play. Punishes become more creative. Your neutral becomes talked about. You've won countless noob tourneys and a few high levels. The Peak of competitive SSF2. _________________ RETIRED |
