Maybe it's just me? I dunno, but whenever I choose Bowser or DK, I find myself unable to get out of combos. DI doesn't work (By the time it does, I have already taken too much damage) and a defensive play-style only lasts but for so long.

I just got my a** handed to me by a decent Game & Watch player because I couldn't escape/dodge any of his hits. He just kept juggling. Worst part is, when DK is launched in the air, he doesn't seem to be able to double jump to escape combos. All I can do while falling is up-b (Spinning Kong), which is incredibly predictable. Bowser's even worse imo.

As a DK main, I experience this far too often. Maybe I just suck tho. :(

maybe you do suck lmao.
just kidding,
you should consider using fast-falling/using attacks to escape juggles (like n-air/d-air for DK, n-air/d-air/down-b for bowser).
if that doesn't really work consider doing more practice and s***.

Fast falling would be a great solution if I didn't have to attack or airdodge before doing it. DK and Bowsers' N-air seems to have low-priority. And these are essentially useless against u-air attacks. I kinda suck with DK's d-air, so I've no excuses for that.

I probably should practice more though. I just wish the CPU could play well enough to be a viable form of practice, because I have to get "rekt" constantly online for any sort of practice. Sorry. Please excuse my salt :(

Sometimes it can be a struggle, but look for people who you feel are evenly matched with you, and just grind it out with them. you will both become gods with the right dedication :chibirobo:

Try performing Ukemi (press shield button in air)

By "Ukemi", he's referring to what the Smash community has dubbed "Teching" (even though every other fighting game from Street Fighter to Soul Calibur calls it "Ukemi". Seriously, why does the Smash community use such vague terms?)

it seems that in ssf2 at least, ukemi is the official term, with tech being an informal nickname.

also ukemi/teching is pressing shield when you hit the ground, what you described is an airdodge.

My experiences are the opposite. I can't get out of DK's combos, no matter what character I play.
