Furby Pikachu gave me a heart attack. What are yall first impressions of this soon-to-be masterpiece?

To me it seems it's basically gonna be Ted but with Pikachu and littered with that Ryan Reynolds/Deadpool humour we've become all too well accustomed to in recent years

when I saw the trailer I did like five double takes to make sure it wasn't just another high-budget fan-made trailer

I'll bet the Sonic movie is gonna end up similar if done even slightly right. I was expecting a deeper, more serious voice instead of Deadpool for the detective himself though. Kaiji Tang from the game would have been a way better choice and faithful to the game (like every other game adaption obviously) IMO.

Also it highlights Charizard and Greninja. I'm seeing a bit of Smash influence.

It's too bad Pichu isn't in the movie or game. He could have been the Watson to Pikachu's Sherlock. But then again the human dude plays that role so I guess that would be redundant and unnecessary.

They'll have to fix Sonic first because Brawl is the only possible Smash movie with a complete story.

Comparing Detective Pikachu and the Sonic movie makes one thing clear as day. Work closely with the makers/experts of the game, and you get faithful designs and a great video game movie. Throw it at the wall and hope it sticks like most video game movies do and you get s*** like Velociraptor Yoshi and Toothy Sonic with the occasional Raul Julia M Bison or Jim Carrey Eggman.
