This section needs a use other than tech support, and this is a perfectly legit reason.

Earlier today, Windows 9 got a screenshot leak. Nothing new visually, but the full build number that was spotted a few days ago can be seen in the bottom right.

Various downloads of the .iso also surfaced, including this one. I've blurred out the rest of the URL since I'd rather not take a chance on getting warned.

This went up a few days ago, and more and more just keeps happening. I'll do my best to post updates here when I can, as apparently the leak's going through small collector groups right now. Supposedly the build has very few changes to Windows 8.1, but seeing how much Microsoft enjoys hiding things that take a single registry key to enable, there might be more to the build than meets the eye.

Gonna jump on the hype train. I am an insider for the technical preview of Windows 10. MSFT totally skipped over 9 and went to 10. More on this later when I try the new build out.

Unsure the build number I'm getting, but it's somewhere around Build No. 9841 as shown in this demonstration article.

So this is my desktop. Fresh new look. First thing I had to try was of course:

The new Start menu. It's actually better than what it's made out to be, and I like it.

Windows 8 Charms still exist.

As well as the lock screen.

With Windows 10, libraries were removed in favor of a file browser "Home". Home provides favorite places as well as frequent folders and recent files for easy access.

The way windows look stacked is phenomenal. It looks like they're actually stacked instead of just overlapping.

Speaking of IE, it couldn't open my e-mail inbox, so I had to put back Firefox.

Notifications appear on the bottom of the screen instead of the top.

Metro apps looking good on the Desktop.

That pretty much ends Day 1 for me.

Highlights from Build 9879 27 November -
Nothing much different, it's more or less a fusion of 9888 and 9841, but I did notice a few things.
9879: show
- The maximize/restore animations from 9888 are not present, however the close/open animations are.
- The notification icon is on the taskbar, as is in 9888.
- It is possible to disable/enable the Task View and Search buttons.
- When there are files in a folder in Icons view, a preview of the icon shows. This only applies to folders with a generic icon and not a custom one. Oddly enough this doesn't appear in 9888.

Remember this window for the future, it'll have some changes in 9888, but I'll leave it a secret. ;)

Highlights from Build 9888 26 November - 31 December
Do note that this is a LEAKED build, and the current public build is still 9841 9879.
I won't go through setup or most of the lookthrough, and will just go through the new/changed features.

First thing I want to point out is that configuration is now white instead of purple. Just something I noticed.

After configuration I was presented with this. It seems familiar.......

Notifications are now on the taskbar. Pretty convenient for past notifs and stuff.

This is a quick 30 second video of the window animations and fixed snap. The animations got changed, which I think look better than the out of place 9841 animations. In 9841, the snap function was broke, permanently leaving windows in the position they were snapped to. In 9888, this is not the case.

It's 9841 for everybody. I've been running the preview all day and I love it to death. It's a tad unstable - the process that handles putting modern apps in a window has a bad habit of leaking memory - but aside from that, it's superior to both Windows 8 and 7 in every single way.

Heh, you'll want to get ready for another build after that, too.

According to Buildfeed.net, the sources for some build names are listed as "private leak"

Hounsell says that could mean a ton of things, from a build being passed around privately to a trusted source telling him a list of names.
