Only for lack of a better word. It's certainly not "faith" in the same context.

Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. It isn't the rejection of science. I uphold science (based on the proviso that what is claimed to be scientists is not an assumption made by an individual or a group). For example I support much of Darwin's work on evolution and Newton himself was a man who believed in a rational God who established a law-abiding cosmos.

What you trust, is that what you see is all that there is. Just like you can't prove the existence of God per se, you can't prove the non existence of God. You can not be sure and so you are making a leap of faith that there is none.

There are trillions and trillions of possible situations that could be and could have been occurring that have no proof or evidence. There could be heat-proof children taking picnics on the sun. There could be hundreds of invisible unicorns that spontaneously explode into showers of invisible and untouchable fried eggs that have no effect on the environment.
Yeah I'll stick with the unicorns. Now lets say that the great unicorn-dragon Emperor created the universe using his rainbow-vegetable-orbs. That's my religion. Yeah, I can't prove it to you (oh except there's this book a whole bunch of people collaborated on a while back that details said creation), but you try and prove to me that this isn't exactly what happened.
Don't say the blind faith is reasonable because while it can't be proved, it can't be disproved. It's the same for all of these potential examples. How am I making a leap of faith in only placing my confidence in the things we as a race have discovered and are able to actually prove, as opposed to any of the hundreds of religions? The religions that have a likelyhood of actually guessing the one possibility out of a trillion that happens to be right?

I'm gonna drop the whole "Christian, but not religious" thing. I'm not even Christian. Hell, I don't even wanna be Atheist, if only because it sounds pretentious. I'll just sit here and say I don't care how we came to be. What's the title for that?

It kinda sounds like a more apathetic version of Agnosticism.

You're assuming that, if there was a god, he'd remain hidden, that he'd hide himself from his creation. As soon as you consider the possibility that he'd like to take credit for the universe, the likelihoods skyrocket.

They'd skyrocket if these religions were based on what has been observed.

What would an Atheist say about Giant Robots created the Earth then left to create their own planet then was able to transform into things using the magical power of the box!

They'd ask for evidence.

Oh don't get me wrong. I'm all for evidence before joining a belief.
