Now usually, this is the kind of thing I'd settle in private, but my PM about it to Geno was read and then ignored, so I'm having to do this.

I was warned by Geno for this post. I'm assuming it's because he thought I was serious.

I'm saying I'm "assuming" that because he warned me and didn't put down a reason for the warning. That's f*** unacceptable. If I'm remembering correctly, it's also not the first time that's happened.

So, I want an explanation. Why was I warned for that post? If it's because Geno thought I was serious, then I'd like him to look at my sig. The "100% serious" part is a joke. A lot of my posts are jokes. I put that in my sig because most people don't seem to get that. Apparently, that includes moderators.

It's insulting that anyone would think that post is serious. I obviously knew that Ziku didn't mean what I implied he meant. I was implying he meant a video game could only be made with his blessings as a joke. I was making fun of his choice of words. Making fun of somebody's choice of words is not a warnable offence.

If I were saying something like "they don't need your f*** blessings to make a game, dumbass", then that'd be flaming and it'd be a warnable offence. What I posted was a joke. A joke is not a warnable offence.

If you know I wasn't serious and warned me anyway, then warn me (and everyone else) for making jokes instead of only doing it this one time.

tl;dr: Explain to me why I was warned for that post and make it clear to your moderators that not putting down a reason when they warn somebody is unacceptable.

A police officer doesn't arrest somebody without telling them why they're being arrested. A moderator shouldn't warn somebody without telling them why they're being warned.

Geno's computer is broken, and he's been using his phone as of late. He probably read it, and is now waiting until he has access to a computer to make a response. I was in his position not even all that long ago, so I can understand the pain of having to do mod-work with a cellphone, which is probably also why there wasn't any comment, etc. It's pretty much why I fell off the face of the earth while my computer was broken. *shrugs*

I'm on my phone right now and I can post just fine.

I'm also sure that telling somebody why you warned them is something that you can do on a phone just fine. This isn't an argument, you don't need to be at a computer to say "I warned you because your post broke rule (whatever)".

Until we get an answer from Geno this discussion can't get too far. It won't be enough to just assume that post was the reason.

No, I was warned for that post.

I just wasn't given a reason why I was warned for that post.

So Kyuubit, I guess I'll be the first to add to this - you should know for starters that your sarcastic quote in your sig about being 100% serious doesn't get you off the hook for the warning. Admittedly it's not like all of your posts follow that same pattern, I have to say it's enough to the point where something like this can easily be considered spam. If you're not contributing to the topic in meaningful way with those sorts of posts at some point you should expect a sarcastic post here and there to get flagged.

Fair enough, then.

Just make sure you tell your mods that not giving a reason for the warning when you warn someone isn't acceptable and there's no problems.

it still seems pretty arbitrary which posts get warnings and don't, then, if we're following that rule of sarcasm and not helping the topic or whatever. i could go into pretty much any thread on this site and pull up multiple comments whose authors should be warned if kyuubit's was (i know for a fact that if his post is warning-worthy some of my comments are s*** to the extreme)

It's really the luck of the draw as to whether they're brought to our attention through reports.

I apologize for not putting a reason down on the warning, I usually do that on warnings I believe to be obvious, but looking back on it I can see how it may look ambiguous. Regarding the PM, back when I was having computer issues it was really hard to access the forum. I checked the PM when I first woke up and fell back asleep before responding, that's how it looked like I ignored it. The warning may not have been the most justified in the world, it was mostly because Ziku gets picked on a lot and it seemed to me to be out of line. I'll list reasons for warnings in the future, especially now that my computer's back up and running.

Sorry bout that, Kyuubit.

You were asking people if they wanted to play Animal Crossing just fine, though. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Anyway, it's fine. As long as you know not to do it again in the future, there's no problem.
