DIO's cheap against noobs and AI because people who aren't as skilled tend to rush into his MudaMudaMuda barrage, which can be timed for rinse-repeat.

Jotaro's a pretty good balanced character. He's good for straight up brutal high hit-count combos, and he has some nice tricky attacks, just like in Heritage for the Future. Also, just like that game, I personally think he's better with Star Platinum off, though Star Finger and his inhaling thing into a Stand Rush are nice tricks to pull off with Star Platinum on. Caution: His GHA is easily blocked by a skilled player. I don't even bother using it anymore, unless I can pull off something tricky mid-combo. Same for most characters, which is where the next part comes in:

Yoshikage Kira (Sheer Heart Attack) - Pretty much my main now. Fun to use because of his Primary Bomb and Detonation, and because he's one of the chars with an unblockable GHA that comes out insanely fast. Good against people who like to pull cheap tricks like the the Funny Valentine mid-combo GHA trick. I used to have the same appreciation for Kosaku Kawajiri (Bite the Dust), but it's so easy to avoid that GHA hit, and his air bombs and combos aren't quite as good as regular Kira's combos, coin-bombs and Sheer Heart Attack. Plus, Kawajiri has a counterattack for an HHA, which is easily exploited by any good player, and used to set up a throw or GHA, whereas regular Kira has a normal HHA that chains well into combos.

My other main's AC/DC / Esidisi, because he has a really interesting style that tends to catch other players off guard whenever I use him online or offline. Though I've never found any reason to activate his Blazing Mode or Blaze King Mode at all, and I usually just stick with his regular combos. Similar for Dio Brando (Phantom Blood), but I'm not confident enough in my ability to effectively use his combos. I usually end up chaining into the upward Blood Suck combo a lot.
