Ah, Christmas season. The time of giving and religious observance. A town such as, say, McCleodGaming should be in high spirits around this time.

But this was not to be the case.

Two weeks ago, a large avalanche hit a large section of the city. Many of the town's supplies were lost under the catastrophe, and while the government is doing what it can, it just wasn't enough to help keep the citizens healthy. It's NEVER enough, anyway. It was only a matter of time before the town resorted to raiding or starved to death.

Wednesday, December 22, 2010.

The remaining citizens with some vigor gather in the city square. There had been strange reports of a person that had just entered the city and was heading to the city square. But how could he have gotten into the city? The police were blocking off the city, proclaiming it hazardous...

Upon further inspection, the person was actually an ice statue of a humanoid figure which could mysteriously move and think by itself. The town had seen many other strange species, including anthropomorphic hedgehogs, but they had never gazed their eyes on an ice statue that behaved just a like a human.

"CITIZENS OF MCLEODGAMING!" the statue boomed to the gathering crowd. "I AM THE WINTER SPIRIT OF COMMERCE. I HAVE COME TO WREAK HAVOC ON YOUR CITY FOR A REASON." Murmuring spread throughout the crowd. Was the "Winter Spirit" the one who caused the avalanche?

"YOUR CITY SICKENS ME! YOU ALWAYS BUY YOUR CHRISTMAS PRESENTS AT THE LAST SECOND! YOU HAVE BEEN VIOLATING THE RULES OF COMMERCE FOR DECADES, AND NOW IS THE TIME YOU PAY!

"BUT AS I FEEL MERCIFUL, I WILL GIVE YOU AND YOUR CITY ONE LAST CHANCE! I DEMAND TRIBUTE!" More murmuring could be heard.

"THOSE WHO VALUE THEIR PATHETIC LIFE MUST PRESENT ME WITH CHRISTMAS PRESENTS!" But how could the town supply presents when it was ridiculous low on anything? The Winter Spirit quickly answered the question. "THOSE WHO VALUE THEIR PATHETIC LIVES WILL BE SENT TO A TOWN APPROXIMATELY A HUNDRED MILES AWAY WITH FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS OR WHATEVER CURRENCY IT IS AROUND THESE BLASTED PARTS."

Just as the Winter Spirit was about to pick the ones to pay the city's tribute, a man stepped out of the crowd. "And how do we know Cleod's not going to ban you for this?"

A smirk appeared on the Winter Spirit's face. "BECAUSE...HE IS DEAD!" he proclaims, dropping Cleod's dead corpse on the ground. The crowd gasps and takes five steps away from their fallen leader.

"NOW, YOU... AND YOU... AND YOU..." the spirit said as he pointed to random members in the crowd. "GO AND BUY MY TRIBUTE!" He tosses money to each of the chosen, and whisks them away to the far away town.

These eleventh hour shoppers are the last hope for McLeodGaming...

If you want to play, all you got to do is just jump in!

You can choose to buy gifts at the prices the shop offers... or you can haggle with the shopkeepers!
Please note the shopkeepers are very crafty and will do anything to get money. That includes overpricing stuff.
Your ability to persuade is necessary if you wish to win! Almost anything goes when trying to persuade the shopkeepers!
The game ends Saturday, December 28. New Year's Day. Provide the best gifts to get an excellent score! Don't and... well... you'll see.
