Also supposedly Kratos (from God of War) is set to appear in the Playstation version. The Battletoads, I can understand, but I dunno, Kratos doesn't really seem like a good fit for the world.

Well, Sony doesn't really have any retro characters to use the way Nintendo and Rare do (though I'm still hoping Nintendo gets to add some exclusive content to the Wii U/3DS versions). Maybe Sir Daniel would have been a better fit.

Well the Wii U version has or is getting an online battle mode isn't it? That's exclusive to that version from what I've heard. Or I just heard wrong.

Sir Dan would thematically be a better fit at least but The idea of Shovel Knight is that it's based on old NES games, Battletoads, Ducktales, Mega Man etc. etc. The Battletoads (now owned by Microsoft) make sense to show up because of that. Shovel Knight is sort of a tribute to those games, so those characters showing up feels cool. Kratos on the other hand has nothing to do with either the setting or the type of gameplay Shovel Knight seems inspired by. His inclusion feels forced and sort of awkward to me, like it's just another one of those moments where Playstation wants to reassure us that they have a mascot and whatnot. Maybe its just me though.

Speaking of Shovel Knight, I love this type of game very interesting a sweeping classic action adventure game with awesome gameplay, memorable characters, and an 8-bit retro aesthetic. I love the games so much due ti its perfect platforming, beautiful art, infectious music, crazy bosses, humor and levity.
