The franchise has been dead since adventure 2. Even that game is not even 1/3 good. Colors and Generations were great, but lost world drug it right back down.
Honestly they have to do something better than generations for next year otherwise there's just no way it's recovering.

It's more or less been my expierence that the people that say "Sonic is dead" are usually the people who buy the newest Sonic games the quickest.

I'm just legit curious why adventure 2 of all things is considered the best game by the majority.
Honestly the game that SHOULD be considered the best is Sonic 3 & Knuckles because it takes the previous main formula and improves it in every way. No other sonic game has done that successfully.

Never played generations. Isn't it essentially a mix between the classic sonic games and the newer "adventure" levels that are in Sonic Adventure 2.

sonic's fan base is a mess of people asking for gameplay styles to come back. basically the fan base is heavily divided and that's one of the problems today with sonic. one of the reasons you hear people praise adventure 2 so much is because that's the game that started basically all the fandom s*** you see on the internet

there are the classic stages which are somewhat similar to the gameplay of sonic 2 because of the spindash, and there are the modern stages which are pretty much exactly the same as unleashed just using zones from past games

honestly the game was too short, i personally loved generations but i wish it was longer, there aren't nearly enough levels

I kind of agree, but Generations is one of those games where replaying the levels for better scores is a huge part of the game

Honestly I love Generations. It's pretty much the only Sonic game I've played but I think it's brilliant

that's very true actually, but at least they could've chosen better levels or maybe levels from different games?

i feel like instead of speed highway we could've had sky deck, or instead of a sonic 06 level maybe a secret rings level, i'd always thought that a secret rings level would be really interesting with generations gameplay

i understand they chose levels from successful games and that those levels were most memorable (although i don't agree with speed highway), so i guess i'm just being a butt who's never totally happy with anything sonic team do

tbh the biggest issue with Generations is that it had a level from Colours

celebrating the long history of Sonic (and this game that came out the year before this one)

I would have liked it if Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles were separate in the developers eyes, so we could have had something like Ice Cap along with Sky Sanctuary

Sonic is 25 next year and Generations was the 20th anniversary game so maybe we'll get some good news
