meh, lots of smash characters don't deserve their place. they have a chance, but if cv, quote, or steve get in im gonna be pissed that a good character lost their spot.

I want master chief just so sergeant Johnson can be an assist trophy who runs around cussing and noscoping with a beam rifle

Lots of things about this post really irritate me, but could you list the characters in smash brothers that don't deserve a spot and why? You said lots of them, so I expect lots of names.

young/toon link, dr.mario, wii fit trainer, pichu, g&w, ice climbers/duck hunt duo, villager, captain falcon, rosalina, and rob.
i meant this in terms of "has this character made a lasting impact on nintendo as a whole" if you know what i mean. dont get me wrong, they're cool, but im sure they could have found more worthwhile characters. i guess clones are excusable because they are pretty much there to fill the holes and make a reasonably large roster.

I agree with kb, also if you say Falcon doesn't deserve a spot, then you are saying certain other characters like Fox, Kirby, Ness or the Pokemon characters shouldn't be in it since their series were verily new when smash bros came out. Yes you can argue that it was Smash bros. that made Falcon famous which is kinda true, but imo it was a good choice for Sakurai to include recluse characters like him.

Hell at least Falcon had a game on the N64, while Samus and Ness didn't.

Characters like duck hunt duo, the ice climbers were from memorable games, well at least duck hunt was very memorable.

young/toon link are arguable, but at the same time I like having another Link in Smash. It shows the diversity of the Legend of Zelda series with the different Links.

I think the argument on Pokemon and Wii Fit go along side each other imo. Pokemon was very popular at the time it was created, the majority of us should know that so why not include pokemon in the first smash, which was released a little two years later. When Wii Fit was released and sold very well, Brawl was already at the end of its development cycle so they couldn't include Wii Fit material in there so they added it into Smash 4.

Animal Crossing has become very popular and Sakurai even though about including Villager in Brawl, but didn't so he added him in smash 4.

Rosaline maybe overrated, but her character design in Smash 4 is good.

He's meant to be the most average character in the game

Did they have an impact? I can understand G&W but Rob had only two games that both sucked. Maybe my Rob is broken, but he keeps dropping the stuff on the ground.
