Y'know, I'll accept terrible Pokemon design in the case of Garbodor, but otherwise I don't know what you're smoking. This is the generation that gave us Golurk and Chandelure, for god's sake. Every Pokemon generation has some s*** designs to balance out the good; Johto had Mantine and Granbull, Hoenn had Altaria, and so on.

nostalgia allows us to ignore its flaws but looking at it objectively yes magneton is about the same thing as klinklank

i would argue however that klinklank is worse since it spreads the evolution over three pokemon rather than two, and the original sprites are still clearly visible in the evolved forms

but regardless

each gen has its ups and downs. I like gen 1 a lot and gen 5 was overall not great

gen 3 is my favorite
