What Nobody said, plus just in case, you might want to scan your backed-up files before moving them back onto your computer.

@Hakker
I called a technician for my computer last time it went haywire, and it's never been better!

That's not what he was getting at. Obviously the technician is supposed to fix your computer.
But by using a technician, you actually had to pay money you didn't have to pay.

Unless I'm the one misinterpreting his statement.

Sorry for the double post, but I'm retarded to have forgotten about running in safe mode and system restore. It's a temporary fix, but go ahead and do it.

I'm not even sure we had to pay, the technician lives across the street and is a great friend of my dad's. And a computer whiz to boot. (Lol@"to boot".)

Well, that doesn't apply to everybody. Technicians are often pricey and I suggest getting one only in the event if you can't fix the problem and you still want your files.

Well, if you have the advantage I had, use it, but if you absolutely need to pay, you might want to try everyone else's advice or reinstall Windows/Macintosh/
Linux/whatever you have.
But getting BOT...

First and foremost: Ignore Densetsu.
Backup all files.
Download AVG Anti-Virus and Malwarebytes Antimalware, they're the two I've found work best. Do full scans with both and remove whatever you find. If this does not fix your problem or the virus scan turns up nothing, then reboot your computer and mash F8 as you boot up.
When you get to the "Windows Advanced Boot Option", select "Safe Mode." A screen with heaps of scrolling text will pop up, that's what we want.
When you get into Windows, run AVG again. It should show up as a black window with white text, the command prompt scanner. Let it run it's scan, and if it doesn't turn anything up, then I'm out of ideas. :/

System Restore, like I said, is the best temporary fix. Then go from there.

Even that has an easy solution. Just run windows from a different, clean harddrive, and stick the infected in when the right anti-virus software is in place. Should be easy to go in, get the important files, and bail out.

If he does have a virus, chances are it might have infected his system restore points. So I suggest not system restoring.

Norton always says to turn off System Restore before getting rid of viruses. (Not me, Norton!)

Most viruses do not actually attack system restore points, because it can be hard to do so.
