I'm pretty sure the big problem with the Ice Climbers was that the 3DS would have had to have been a bale to render 8 fully animated characters, 4 of them with pretty complex AI, all at once while maintaining the 60 FPS that Sakurai said was crucial. While you could use the Pikmin and Luma as reasons agains that, both those characters have much simpler models and AI and this aren't as taxing on the system.

And also yes, that F-Zero stage looks awesome! That stage and the Gameboy Kirby stage both looked like great additions!

The F-Zero stage is absolutely radical

Dunno about that Mother stage though. It seems like it has a built in AT or something? And the stage is 3D but there's a tear in the background that shows 2D Mother footage?

Any Mother fans care to help us out here? That stage is just odd.

The gimmick would be sorely missed, don't get me wrong, but explaining it away in a way that makes sense in game makes it more acceptable, as well as if it was for balance reasons or system reasons. They can easily include a quip in the trophy as to why they were tied together (safety reasons as a result from last few times)/Nana was missing (caught a cold from climbing cold mountains)/etc.

I'd rather limit my dog by putting his foot in a cast then to say, "Screw it, let's just shoot him!" which is what it feels like they did to the Ice Climbers. I honestly don't get how they couldn't make Nana have "accept player inputs when close to Popo" and have "Pikmin AI when away from Popo", anyways.
