This is one of the worst games ever made. Its problems start right as the Activision logo shows up as the audio starts skipping right then and there. This sets the tone for the entire game.
The first and most apparent problem with the game is the framerate. The framerate drops so badly that it makes Sonic Boom look decent by comparison. It's that bad. It's like Robomodo and Activision didn't optimize it for the consoles you play it on at all. I can't even understand why it chugs so badly because it's not graphically intensive at all; The graphics look like they belong on the PS2. That's not an exaggeration. The missions are boring, the controls are awful, and the constant load times from constantly going on and offline to do missions are worse than Sonic '06.
Even Tony Hawk himself was able to tell how bad his own licensed game was and I'm sure his contract with Activision prohibited him from saying anything bad about it but that doesn't change the fact that this game dragged the Tony Hawk franchise out of retirement just to destroy it and use its dead body as a marionette.
This game is basically a public execution for the franchise and I'm glad I got it off of Gamefly as opposed to spending $60 on this broken-down catastrophe. Even with the 7GB patch when I started the game for the first time, the game doesn't function properly at all. That's my experience with the game. What was yours like?

Activision's contract with Tony Hawk was close to expiring, and they wanted to rush this out beforehand.

I'm well aware of that but that isn't an excuse. It's clear that this game is nothing more than a cash-in and that its programmers didn't even try to make a good game at all.

That wasn't an excuse, that was an explaination
Please don't twist somebody's post just to let you complain about the game more

Why would you think I meant that against Rapty? He didn't make the game. I obviously meant that it wasn't an excuse for the developers.

I wouldn't blame the developers. They were the ones forced to work under an unreasonable deadline. If the publishers had called for them to start production sooner, under the pretense of "let's make a new skating game because people love them" instead of "let's make a new skating game because we lose the contract in a few months", maybe it could have been better. Blame the publishers.

They probably didn't receive much funding either.

Blame the publishers for picking these developers, really. Robomodo have never made anything of worth. I had zero expectations for this game as soon as I heard it was the same people who made Pro Skater HD, and I think the only reason anyone had hope for the rest of the series was because they didn't play Pro Skater HD. I can't blame them because it was a download-only title, but still. When the developers can't even get the old games right, why would they get a new one right?

I didn't know anything about the developers, but yeah, the whole thing was a total cash grab rush job.

I'm just saying that I seriously doubt they would have put out a good game even if they were given a lot of time to work on it

It's Activision
The Tony Hawk licence was running out and rushing s*** out to get money takes precedent over making a good game
Plus they shut down Neversoft, so they probably didn't have any teams working for them who could actually make a good Tony Hawk game

i understand the cash grab mentality but why the f*** did they shut neversoft down
i wouldnt think they went bankrupt, thps and guitar hero were pretty well received games
edit: ohhhhhhh they merged with infinity ward???
so they're stuck making cod games, bummer
