Attention all SSF2 players! I recently discovered a new technique in Super Smash Flash 2 where you dash, jump to get a mid-air speed boost, and do an aerial attack. Or to put it in a shorter name: Dash-Aerial Attacking, or as I like to call them for short, Dash Aerials.
So what exactly are Dash Aerials? Well, like I explained above, a Dash Aerial is when you dash, jump, and use an aerial attack. When you convert your dashing into a jump, this'll give you a good amount of mid-air speed.
Here's how this usually goes if you play this on a computer with the keyboard:
First, tap the A or D key twice to dash, but hold the A or D key down after the second time you tap.
Then, convert your dash into a jump by continuing to hold the A key or D key (whichever one you pressed to do the dash) and then tap the W key. This will cancel the dash animation and enter the jumping animation, but then, it'll keep your speed from the dash, making you jump farther than the walk-to-jump conversion.
Finally, input any aerial attack command while you're in mid-air to do an aerial attack while you're still in the dash-to-jump conversion. And, hooray! You just performed a Dash Aerial. I tried this with Kirby for the best results, but you can try it with any fighter. Here's how the stats go with the Dash Aerials.
Dash N-Air: This works by following the first two steps, but then releasing the A key or the D key and inputting the P key. You'll still have the speed from the dash-to-jump conversion, but only for a little bit, as it cancels soon after the Dash N-Air hits and you land on the ground.
Dash F-Air: This works by following the same steps in the tutorial, but you still have to hold the A key or the D key and tapping the P key while doing so. If your character's F-Air is a multi-hit, such as Kirby's F-Air or Samus' F-Air, this works very well.
Dash B-Air: It's the same as Dash F-Air, but if you are holding the A key, you'll have to let it go in order to do the B-Air command, and vice versa if you are holding the D key. Unfortunately, only very few characters have a multi-hit B-Air, so if you have a character with a single-hit B-Air, you'll have limited options on what to do next, so be careful on the character you choose!
Dash U-Air: This works by following the steps in the tutorial, but you have to let go of the A key or the D key in order to input the Up Air command. [W + P in mid-air] Samus, Fox, and Falco perfect for this, as their up-airs can hit multiple times.
Dash D-Air: In order to do this, you'll have to follow the tutorial, and input the down air command [S + P in mid-air] after Step Two. Kirby and Jigglypuff are perfect for this, as not only their down air can hit multiple times, they can also interfere with opponent recoveries.
Bowser and Donkey Kong have another version of the Dash Aerial called the Dash Up Special. In order to do this, you'll first have to either pick Donkey Kong or Bowser, then go into a match in Group Mode, or try it in Solo Mode's Training area.
Then, follow the same steps as the Dash Aerial tutorial, but on the third step, instead of pushing an aerial attack command, input the up special command [W + O in mid-air] instead. If you are on a large stage like Temple (Melee), Lunar Core, and Wily Castle, you'll go some serious distance that would render all up specials (yes, even Fox and Falco's Side B to Up B conversion) obsolete!
Well, that's all on Dash Aerials. I hope you try these out, and if you like them, or if you found out something else that's similar to these, or, heck, even BOTH, let me know!Until next time!
