So I put my computer into sleep mode last night, then came back to turn it on but nothing appeared on the monitor. It acts as if there isn't anything plugged in at all. The fan is still running on the graphics card though. It's a Nvidia Geforce 9800GT btw.

Are your drivers up to date? Even if they are, you might wanna try reinstalling.
Similar thing happened to me and I just dealt with it until I decided to update, and that fixed it.

Windows isn't detecting my GPU at all now. Can't install any newer drivers now.

Check the connectors on your mobo. Also when was the last time you blew dust out of your computer?

The fan is still working on the GPU so I'm guessing the PCI slot is still working properly. I can try to find some other GPU to test this though. I have a bottle of air to clean out my computer and desk of dust right next to my desk and I clean it about once every two weeks so I don't think dust buildup is the problem.
