this would be cool if it didnt come with a negative counterpart
would cut down on "same" posts
and best of all, in threads like "screenshots" and "videos" and etc in the ssf2 section it would at a glance tell you how good the content is according the community which i think is SWEET

i definitely agree with having both buttons being a bad thing because it could be used as a venue to bully users/troll someone you dont like, but "like" or "plus" only would be cool.

plz

I don't really see the benefits you posted as being that significant and I worry about the idea of people making safe, pandering, garbage posts just for the likes a la Reddit

Exactly. However, having a downvote button to push those posts back down balances it out if people actually use it on them. (Unlike on Reddit)

All in all though it's a s*** system that's made even s*** if you only let people vote posts up.

No no, allowing posts of dissenting opinions to be downvoted to oblivion is far worse than just having upvotes

Can't assume we would use it any better than the average Redditor would

It's an idea that's good for the SSF2 section like you said, but pointless at best and f*** stupid at worst for the rest of the forums

If it was only in the SSF2 section then sure, otherwise lmao f*** no

i think it'd be good for the ssf2 section but i don't think it'd work as well in other sections of the forums, yeah

unlike reddit, we could elect for a system without a cumulative tally for your account. no upvote whoring, you'll get a post with a +4 ranking or something that will be irrelevant and forgotten shortly. just like most spam section threads.

hmm. Fair enough, but I still don't think the benefits aren't worth the potential abuse.

s'just me, though.

If implemented I will go on a quest to "like" every post on the forum

Fun idea, but the problem with this is that phpBB's infrastucture isn't optimized for an upvotes system. Since support for phpBB customizations has been dwindling recently I doubt we can implement this in any stable way.
