It's been said that there will be character customization on the 3DS version that you can send onto the Wii U.

No, Sakurai confirmed that there will not be any cutscenes. I don't know why anybody has said that there won't be a story mode. But I would expect something similar to Melee's adventure in the Wii U version. But the 3DS version is confirmed to have something that will "act as a separate mode from the standard versus play." You can see what he actually said here.

"Unfortunately, the movie scenes we worked hard to create were uploaded onto the internet." Sakurai lamented. "You can only truly wow a player the first time he sees [a cutscene]. I felt if players saw the cutscenes outside of the game, they would no longer serve as rewards for playing the game, so I've decided against having them."
it's not exactly because you can spoil it, but because you don't get that "WHOA" feeling when you actually go through the game meh, i don't care either way

Regardless a story mode is not deconfirmed, but I'd think we'd see it in the 3DS version while the Wii U gets a Melee styled adventure mode.

I was under the impression that the leak thing wasn't the only reason.
I heard the real reason was that the simple fact that Nintendo isn't a cutscene company. Where as something like Metal Gear was completely devoted to cutscenes and story, albeit the gameplay was good as well, nothing by Nintendo is anything more than the game it is. The Smash team had to do a lot of outside sourcing to get the Brawl cutscenes, and it was incredibly difficult to have a ton of departments working on it, as opposed to one tight knit group.
The cutscenes were (Allegedly) also the cause of at least one delay for Brawl, and also the reason it was a double sided disk and took up so much storage.

aww mannn he's right though. I guess that's okay. I just like how brawl's cutscenes made it look like a movie. and with the wii u supporting hd, it would've looked more than twice as good ; _ ;

Yeah, but the newcomer cutscenes look cool enough for now. Hopefully the new hidden characters get them too.

 Are you nuts? the 3DS fits better a Melee-style Adventure Mode than Wii U. That'd be a silly decision considering Wii U is HD.

Single-player experience makes more sense for the gaming system that is single-player naturally. If that ended up happening, what is the point of getting the 3DS version? I'd rather play overall superior Wii U version with better graphics, actual story mode, and multiplayer. The 3DS version needs things that the Wii U version can't have like the character creation and a story mode. It makes getting that version more worthwhile.

You just say it, 3DS is were customization will begin, that's the main attractive of that version. Wii U should have the greatest visuals.

Customization wouldn't be enough. You need to think about this like a developer would, the smarter idea would be to make the 3DS version Single-Player focused, so a campaign mode would be better for the 3DS version. There needs to be more reasons to buy the 3DS version over the Wii U version other than custom character(s) and version specific stages.

Eh, I'm fine with either. I mean, the main point of the series isn't the single-player modes, anyway. It's to fight with different characters in battles through the versus mode.
Also, I'm still for Lloyd. *prepared to defend*
