Thoughts on chapter one of the alleged sequel of Undertale ?

There's a sequel? Haven't checked it out yet.

It's not a sequel it's an officially made, canon, not-sans-centric (mostly) AU.

But it's confusing as heck, we don't see the now alive azzy or pap and soriel is canon while toriel still has an ooc level grudge on asgore so I'm not that interested yet.

it doesn't have to be a continuation/a backstory of the events that occurred after/before UT to be a sequel/prequel .

as you said, it's an alternate reality. the ending of UT is untouched and will remain that way. this is a new dimension or universe, if u will .

but considering the latent links between DR and UT, along with the strange occurrence at the end of DR's first chapter, the game can be considered a sequel . although it's not .

but if we're being blunt or direct, it's basically Undertale 2

it can be called a followup or a successor but it is absolutely not a sequel as it does not follow Undertale chronologically

i couldn't finish undertale because trying to play the pacifist run when the random encounters repeat unless you kill them was uhhh.... not fun

the old characters only show up briefly & most of deltarune's runtime is spent with new ones

and the random encounters don't happen that often in undertale, plus you can run from them without consequence after you've spared the first one of each type

in addition, you can actually see the enemies on the map rather than just randomly bumping into nothing with an exclamation mark on your head

the chance to run from them is also there but they're faster than you so it's difficult, especially when there's hardly any space to run

In my experience undertale is not made so that you can simply run without consequence after sparing them once, and they certainly do take their turn. That on it's on would waste enough time that I'd rather play something else. Idk I might get around to it someday
