Maybe...

Q: Why are no 8-bit sprites shaded?
A: 8-bit sprites are like sprites that would be in a NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) game. They aren't meant to have shading.

Q: Why are Gameboy sprites only green?
A: Green was the only color that the Gameboy screen had.

I believe 8-bit stands for the a limited amount of colours?
I'm not 100% sure though, it may also have to do with the skills of the sprites when they were made.

A LOT of 8-bit sprites have shading FYI. Faulty question.

IIRC, you COULD adjust the values of the colors on your gameboy. You could configure the brightness I think. Although it would still show up very greenish, there is no actual Game Boy palette because the colors we see on an actual Game Boy screen are different from the Game Boy palettes posted online.

Not only that, but each game has their own limited palette as far as I remember.

In a way yes, most games just go with the same grey levels and saturation.

Just to throw it out there...

For animating sprites, it's better to use GIMP (in mine and Water_kelpi's opinion)

Beneton Movie GIF kinda screwed up my animations, I made the background transparent, screwed it up badly, tried w/o and it still was bad...

Any other animating programs other than GIMP and Beneton?

I'd say Graphics gale, its an amazing striping tool and has a build in gif maker and it uses onion skin so that makes it better for animating.

Hmmm... I'll have to look that up...

Q: Why are the sprites for the Virtual Boy games red and black?

A: That's what Nintendo decided to use for all the games, and it was so it didn't hurt your eyes more.

It didn't help... :eew:

Ok, here's how this is going to go down. This topic is just for all the new guys that wants/trying to get into spriting/animating, so I thought it be nice if the community could prove some questions and answers.

All you have to do is post a simple question that's asked alot when it comes to spriting/animating, and then prove a simple answer. Doesn't sound too hard does it? Alright, lets get started!

Isn't it "provide"?

Also:
Q: What can I expect if I were to become a spriter?
A: Well, you have to expect criticism if you are going to post the sprites online. You can use the criticism to improve, and so forth. There isn't a limit, so enjoy it!

Depends on the content, really. If you made the sprite sheet yourself, then you can make a topic here in the Spriters Corner and show it to us. If you didn't make it, then where you post it depends on what you intend to show people. If you just wanna show people the sprite sheet because you like it, then you should probably put the link to the sheet in your sig.
