Kojima said that the character being in Brawl promoted the series in general to Nintendo players. And it did.

Snake was young and all MGS4 had in the game was a music track (and maybe some stickers?? idk)

Hey, I don't ship s***. Shipping is like a cancerous minefield when it comes to fandoms. It gets worse and worse, characters start going OoC just to 'match', and people take everything that makes the thing you like about something and turns it into something totally unrelated. And you can't call anyone out on any of it because the mines will explode and tear riffs in the fandom, some saying ship X and Y, some saying ship X and Z, some saying all of those people are stupid as hell because X is conf straight. Eventually there is nothing salvageable left and all the quality things the fandom did as a whole, become mediocre (at best) within the factions, if anything is created that's not shipping in the first place.

No, in a world where we have people like Emma Watson, people like me get by by making low quality jokes and Tier 1 puns. Not even going to go into how there are way better choices than Emma Watson to make that point drive home.
