I am sorry. but if you don't look at this topic you wont see them

The Sabbath was supposedly the seventh day, and Sunday is generally viewed as the seventh day of the week.
There'd be no way of knowing when something that long ago happened.
"Honoring the sabbath" doesn't imply that the "actual" sabbath was on Sunday, it merely symbolises it.

so we might have gotten the wrong day, instead of going to church I'll just keep thanking god every time something good happens.

Atheism.

Nihilism for the win!

I take after the views of Douglas Adams, author of the Hitchhiker's guide trilogy, "Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?"

And the Ten Commandments are in the Old Testament, not the New, which is the basis for Christianity.
If you read the Old, it says alot of things that Jesus would never have done. It also talks about revenge, eye for an eye, etc.
Whereas the New Testament says to Love everyone, and always do things for others than for yourself. That's why I only believe in the New Testament, not the old.

Hey, I see a lot of people working on Sundays. And they happen to be Christian. I guess they don't really give a crap. :/

This is to the An hero, youngin advocate here. You can't believe in the new testament without believing in the Old one. The Bible is a book meant to be followed in full. Jesus was raised off of the Torah which strictly follows the events of the Old testament. Whether or not Jesus taught those things doesn't matter, it is fact that Jesus both Followed and endorsed the teachings of the Torah (the old testament) and stood by it. This either A) proves that the Bibles has major contradictions in it and therefore cannot be believed in as a whole or B) You are reading the book too literally and Jesus' intentions and moral input on life is the same as the Old testament's.

Oh and As for the sabbath thing, You're not supposed to work or do anything you don't really feel like doing. Sunday is a day to have you're own time, It's basically God giving everyone a break on that day. Church is completely irrelevant to it and was implemented centuries after the teachings were taught and the bible was written.

Of course, free time is very important. We all need a break from something at least once for a day. I really feel church is irrelevant as well, however, many think different. Many Christians just keep reading, reading and reading, and some just don't get some of the commandments at all. Especially the third out of all of them. The third one is for the followers to take a chance to stop what you don't want to do, and just do whatever you want. Well, except for stealing, killing, cheating, you get the idea.

And about the bible. I find it to have many contradictions. Especially the killing one. Kill all disobedient teens? Kill all homosexuals? Why does God demand the death of so many innocent people? I mean, most homos have never done anything wrong to hurt anyone in any way. Sure, homos are a bit creepy, but not offensive. They just like one another. There's nothing wrong with liking your gender in a more next level way. Disobedient teens? What if they were told to do something with criminal intent? Are they supposed to do this, or end up getting killed? What if teens were told by parents to do something unlawful? Are teens supposed to obey anyway? I really can't find an answer for this, and I probably never will.

That's not a contradiction in any way though. You're perspective on morality is tainted by the modern society we live in. We were raised to think Homosexuality and disobedience is nothing compared to murder and theft though is that really true? Obviously the answer is subjective but clearly the creators of the bible (aka God) and the chose people saw homosexuality and disobedience as a sin worthy of execution. I hope you understand what I'm saying.

It's sort of like how Children are raised to be racist by some parents and think it's okay to kill "n#%$&" but Americans view it as down right wrong to kill anybody, and to be racist. Whether being racist is morally wrong or not is subjective and is purely opinion. Murder is not factually bad, but we are rather raised on the belief that it is factually bad. We are not raised on the belief for homosexuality and disobedience were factually bad whereas the Israelites of the hayday were. It is all perspective and subjective.

People were raised to believe in different things. Now I see where "having an opinion" came from. Some people may not seem offensive, however was deemed offensive due to past generations, which in the case made these "opinions" or in other words, excuses to go and kill people. But the belief in killing had many people think differently as well. Again, opinions in this case are just excuses to make beliefs and laws. And that's why the world has always been f&%$# up ever since.

In combat of this I recommend reading Romans: http://www.biblica.com/bible/verse/index.php?q=Romans%202&niv=yes&v_mode=&t_mode= and the chapter after it as well

Someone catch me up on this discussion. I'm slightly interested in what the people on MG have to say. I'm agnostic-atheistic myself.

After seeing all your posts in this topic, I feel sorry for you, but aren't you like, 25? It's not like you have to do what they tell you at that age.
