What do you people think about the Link vs ZSS matchup? I feel like the matchup is definitely about Link spacing out ZSS and punishing approaches with quick moves like Nair or reading approaches to get a stronger hit in, but Link will mostly be on the defensive, not approaching and getting kills from edge guards.

I love the new link. As my sign shows, I think he's the new sonic. He does amazingly well against most characters (Including the last 2nd, Jigglypuff, and pikachu the most recent 3rd...) Edit No.1: -@Glitch That is untrue. As link plays defensively, he can charge up his right normal attack, giving a massive sword swipe able of KOing ZSS especially comboed with his side special. Here is the Replay: - http://www.filedropper.com/linkvszss2014-08-02v0911748

That's what I said though Link would be on the defensive and have to get reads to hit with a smash attack as most of them aren't faster than something ZSS can put out. Anyone who walks into a charged smash attack you don't get on a read of some kind (which happened more than once in your replay) is just plain playing bad and doesn't say much about the matchup. In my experience ZSS is better than Link at the short-semi mid range, but Link can definitely out space her to rack up damage and it's not super difficult to use projectiles like the boomerang or bomb arrows to send her off the edge and proceed to edge guard with some nairs. Notice how a bunch of times in the replay when Link got too close to ZSS they'd throw out an attack at the same time, but ZSS' forward b was faster and had more priority than Links moves? That's what I'm talking about.

I know, I don't have much experience playing against ZSS... (I redid the match, and whilst playing realized that the smash attack is hard to land...) http://www.filedropper.com/linkvszssno2 ... 02v0911748

Link can jump higher in this version. However his spin move is weak. I could get ko,'s at 70% now I can bareilly get ko's at 90%.

His spin move isn't useless now though, just don't think of it as a KO move uncharged. It's a pretty good spacing tool as it's still a pretty fast attack that can set some good distance between you and your opponent. EDIT: Yeah this looks a lot like how I'm thinking this matchup will play out. Link spacing out ZSS and ZSS punishing if he tries to approach unsafely. In a large stage it doesn't seem to be that hard for link to out space ZSS but in a smaller stage like wario ware with some platforms to maneuver, she seems to have the edge. Any other matchups you people want to discuss?

Unless it's completely different against humans than CPUs, Boomerang is way OP. It deals knockback comparable to a smash attack on the forward hit, and carries people across the screen on the return. I don't play Link (and haven't played this game before today), as you can tell from the silly mistakes in the videos below, and I wrecked these level 9 CPUs. Metaknight: http://www.fileswap.com/dl/iBoOTjqRyD/ZSS: http://www.fileswap.com/dl/8CizFcZWKY/Mario: http://www.fileswap.com/dl/cJ2No3J5oa/Kirby: http://www.fileswap.com/dl/Xr8FCkDueS/Someone please confirm/deny with your experience. Edit: And some more, from the previous version's top tiers: Sonic: http://www.fileswap.com/dl/A6CgySGw2D/Puff: http://www.fileswap.com/dl/5Vdkme7NI4/Pikachu: http://www.fileswap.com/dl/vgv8FqoqvH/Sora: http://www.fileswap.com/dl/8vG3rjLKKz/Tails: http://www.fileswap.com/dl/cDXpQsyQ9x/Goku: http://www.fileswap.com/dl/fZkx9PojwJ/Bomberman: http://www.fileswap.com/dl/d2tRU73JLg/Megaman: http://www.fileswap.com/dl/ZjFCqlPrab/However, Sonic, Tails, Goku, and Bomberman gave me a tough time, so maybe the first CPUs I played just weren't that good. Edit 2: And then there's this replay, where boomerang carries Goku to his death in at least 2 stocks (first 45 seconds are terrible, next 45 seconds I take all 4 stocks): http://www.fileswap.com/dl/W4CfYcKCzl/Also, found a glitch on smash dojo: for some reason it says Link's primary means of attack is the Master Sword instead of the Boomerang.

I've noticed that when you stand on level ground and throw your boomerang downwards, it's like a short range throw since it bounces off the ground and comes back. Interesting.

CPUs don't really understand projectiles as well as a human will. You'll find a lot of those tactics do not actually work, and that if the opponent reflects the boomerang with their shield you might be the one that's in trouble.

You know what is legit? Gimping DK with the wind on the boomerang (unless they know how to maximize his recovery). His boomerang is not that strong, its just a good projectile.

No need for opinions. It's a fact boomerang right now is retarded.
Goes mid-long-range, so improves zoning. Good base knockback on initial-throw, so improved zoning. Covers options for Link when he's in a vulnerable position. Screws over a lot of recovers / puts opponents in gimp position. Double Down-Smash is pretty easy to do consistently and react to because Boomerang's stuns on return (40%+). Freaking pulls opponents in/off-stage for 16% or more, depending on travel distance. (And you can just runaway with the boomerang to make sure it pulls across the whole length of the stage)
A bit tired of the Gale gimmick; it always brings weird results in-game, no matter how it gets coded. It's just a janky concept, like Mario's FLUDD in Brawl.

I totally Agree that the wind part is ridiculous.

It's like the boomerang wall glitch.
(Throw a boomerang away from the wall, then jump over it. It will pass through the wall and knock people 'round
