I didn't like Earthbound Zero/Mother , not only because of the graphics that couldn't let me imagine how serious this can be but also how weird the story sounds.

i think mother 1 is fantastic actually, it's definitely hard to play because it's dated but it's clever and i like it a lot

I'm sorta amused by the fact that the last three posts have all been totally different unpopular opinions about the same game, all of which are (or at least seem to be to me) actually unpopular.
I personally think MOTHER's story is underrated, and EarthBound's is overrated. (EarthBound is much more fun, though.)

The difficulty stems mostly from the poor balancing rather than being dated Imo. There were several areas where you had to run from certain enemies because of how strong they were; they didn't even balance the last area of the game at all. The low amount of exp didn't help either (this was a flaw in most old RPGs) and even if you're constantly grinding, you still have to run from some enemies. I know it's an early 90's/ late 80's RPG, but even games like Phantasy Star 2 (also super difficult) gave you tools to get through the game. I still enjoyed it though, the world was fun to explore.

those are all valid points as well, i mean again, it's really old and isn't designed MAGNIFICENTLY but it's still quite charming. i totally understand why anyone wouldn't want to play it though
