So. The big reveal. 300 dollars, 3-6 hour battery life, only two notable launch titles, Zelda and Bomberman.
What did everyone think?

lol @ Bomberman being notable
quick PSA: If you're excited about Super Mario Odyssey, don't watch any more trailers. Mario 3D World's trailers spoiled almost all of its best levels

It's a launch title, and it's more notable than Skylanders or 1 2 Switch.

Nintendo announced their asking price for the Switch's online subscription: it's around 2-3k yen, approximately $17-26, yearly. So while PS+ will cost about $60 a month, this service should cost around $2 a month. Now if only they let us actually keep our SNES games.

Okay, I'm not clear on the exact prices of each program. All I know is, Nintendo's service is the cheapest by a good margin, but it has the worst benefits.

ps+ is $60 for a year
so $5 a month. same for xbox live gold
it really isn't that much. people who are opposed to paying for online are opposed to paying -anything- for online. going "oh, it's okay because this is slightly cheaper" isn't solving the issue lol. and this is before getting into how much worse nintendo's service is

Yeah, Nintendo's just been making really dumb decisions for online gameplay since day one. They wouldn't let go of the friend code system for two whole console generations plus a handheld, and now they want to force people to install a phone app for the sake of online play. Wouldn't be surprised if they added the paid subscription thing in part because their competitors were getting away with the same.

Believe it or not, there was a time when you could play online multiplayer on your playstation while paying $0 a month

My point is that the last console generation has free online, the current one has paid online, and all future ones will more than likely still have paid online
And that Nintendo's track record with online play has been pretty godawful so far, so of all the times to jump on the "paid online" bandwagon, this sure isn't the right time Nintendo kinda needs to prove to us that they are capable of having a competent online system this time, and so far needing an extra phone app isn't proving that
