God, the season 4 finale was f*** epic.
At the end of episode 23, Booth was diagnosed with an operable brain tumor. This explained why he was having constant headaches and seeing strange apparitions throughout the series. In the same episode, Bones decided to mother a child, choosing Booth as the s**** donor. Booth neglected to see that he didn't really want to have a child from a test tube instead of normal sexual intercourse until Stewie Griffin's apparition convinced him to finally see the light. That's when he was scanned and the tumor was found. We were left there with Bones coming to the sudden realization that love is not superficial, as long as the individual sees life as such. Booth was sent into have the operation, a "goodbye" wave shared between the two.
In episode 24, we're completely thrown off. We have an expert narration in the midst of a very suggestive scene. During the show, Booth, Bones, and the other detectives are now somehow running a night club. This immediately made me check the episode number to make sure I hadn't missed anything. However, at the end, when the murder and everything was solved, we see Booth lying in a hospital bed. Bones is sitting in the corner, typing the narration that we are now hearing once again. She then looks over at Booth and deletes the the story. Booth wakes up and says he's had the strangest dream and we find out that he's been in a coma for the past four days, due to an unexpected reaction to the anesthesia. Booth's last words in the episode are "Who are you?" as he stares at Bones.
Apparently, Booth has now received amnesia from the operation, even though it was a success. There are several possibilities as to what this may lead to. Here's the best prediction for what's in store.
Now that Booth has amnesia, I'm predicting that he and Bones will get together for the next season, but at some point (perhaps the season finale) Booth will regain his old memories and forget everything that happened during the time he had amnesia. Bones will be devastated but will choose to allow the relationship to form naturally with the "true" Booth, bringing back the sexual tension, but creating a more empathetic Bones.
